liking the looks of the new SR750 from Ibanez
never owned an ibanez but played a few and seems like you get a lot of bass for what you pay.

I like the concept, but still too much preamp for me, not really the controls I want. I also wish Ibanez would use some of their older body shapes again, and headstock shapes, like on the old Roadstar/RB and Musician basses, from the late 70s and early 80s.

Thoughts on volume pedals? I have been thinking about picking one up but not sure if I would actually use one.

One of my guitarists uses one for swells and stuff. Aaron from Yob uses one on some stuff, especially the new album, and I think Ron from Bongripper might be using one on "Endless" as well.

Dang. I know BAT teamed with DOD for a distortion pedal as well. People on Church facebook were bashing him pretty hard and it was pissing me off.

Ryan also announced he was going to do pedals full time. Orders are backing up and he sees no other way than to take care of business. As of March something, he's going to retire from his teaching job.

Good for him. Hope people don't bash him too...

So since this is becoming the main stay in ultimate bassdom (wet/dry mix), how do you guys feel about two setups versus a wet dry mix knob? I'm sure it's no comparison, but when I tried the bass big muff, it didn't have a natural feel to the mix knob. Like once you cranked the mix, the muff tone got real nasty ( not in a good way). Anyways, it didn't work for me. I always thought a dual rig Would be the most ideal arrangement, but haven't really had cash to go amp shopping. But, one set for clean, by clean I mean just a bit of grit, and the other with effects. Or, should the different effects go to the diffetent cabs? Is there a science to this?

Tried it once. I think I set the clean too clean, and so it wasn't sustaining as long as the dirty. Kinda wasn't worth the extra hassle, IMO. Never used any thing with a wet/dry mix or clean blend, though.

Those new Orange heards look cool. I like how they are all SS.

It is just a name. Same as "Class A", "Class B", "Class A/B", "Class H".

Is there a Class C? I hear about Class A, Class A/B, and Class D all the time, but never Class C.

i just went on a rant in another thread about ampeg not making a 410E kind of cab (half a 810). The vt cab has not tweeter, thats a good sign.
I'll have to inquire about the construction methods with tech 21.

Ampeg do make a 410E kind of cab. The 410HE. Just disconnect the tweeter crap and it's half an 810.

Half an 810 is 8 ohms. Ampeg 810 cabs use 32 ohm drivers all wired in parallel, as I recall. Eight of those is 4 ohms, only four of the same driver is 8 ohms.

I don't know why any bass cabs have tweeters? If I use a cab that has one the first think I do is turn it off if possible.

For people who play actually clean (not the same as most of our version of "clean," obviously), I think. I have no use for them, either. My 2x15 has quite enough high end, really.

I really want a white one. With white pickguard and TRC. I'd tune it BEAD. It would be awesome.

i imagine LDS would build one for me, anyone know any other good cab builders?

So like Sam said the part of feeling older is when friends snd family pass is so damn true. Got a call to hurry up and come over and ssy your goodbyes to the girlfriends Aunt who is close with us. She isn't even 50, brain tumor, so a nasty, slow, painful, trapped in your own body kind of death. Anyway so did that then took her folks to dinner after to spend some time with them. But when I got home I just wanted to be in my guitar corner playing, it was comforting, never really thought of how much playing destresses you. the ol lady was doing spastic chore work and kept pulling me from playing too much which sucked but I guess that was the way she dealt with it. I am glad I make terrible lousy jokes and laugh my arse off on a daily basis and have a big pedal chain because man life is short my brothers.

Trouble is drivers. Not a lot of good options.

2 AV210s would be 4 ohms, sealed and no tweeter.

This would do it, but those are medium duty cabs.

There is a 77 Jetglo available at a local shop for $1500 in excellent condition. It bums me to see that and not have the cheddar on hand.

Speaking of local shops, where do you go in STL? I can never seem to find decent ones. They might have guitar stuff, but BASS? Pffft. Would love it if you knew some good bass places.

Saw Blackwitch Pudding for the first time last night, along with Goya. Them wizards had some nice heavy tones coming outta their jetglo ricks through their wall o' Hovercrafts. Lots of friends out, saw pretty much everyone who said they were gonna come to the Tuesday night Hex Volt / Eagle Claw show but didn't so it was nice to be able to offer forgiveness and absolution and tell them when to hear HV next. Good show, good times.
