Mudslide- the 70's lotus might be the keeper if it's as solid as a few 70's guys I have seen. It might even be better built then the mim. What's the sx need to get working ? Depending on the lotus I would sell the mim, use a little money to get some used parts from a local shop, and sell the sx to get a rig. Dont forget to check out local pawn shops for gear.
Thanks. I appreciate everyone's suggestions and advice. It's true I would find it hard to part with the Lotus. It's dripping with 70s vibe and has one of my fave necks ever. Body is laminated which doesn't bother me though it weighs a ton.
The SX was in a flood. All electronics are dead and the black finish got a bit chewed up. However the neck was untouched. Tuners and bridge aren't the best but are still functional.
I bought a Duncan QP, new knobs, black pickguard and new wiring harness and jack for the MIM with the intent of moving the MIM guts into the SX.
Be hard to part with the SX too. Also love the neck on it and it was the first bass I scored back around 2006 when I first got back into playing after a few years of mostly being out of the game.
I think the only one I could do without is the Mexican, even though it really seems to be the "best" of the three. I'm not as attached to it and it is worth more than the other 2 combined.
I could dump the components I bought for the MIM into the SX and keep the MIM stock, try to sell it.
Askrere's advice of putting the MIM up for trade towards an amp is also good counsel.
I do like the idea of having at least 2 basses. Don't care to have more than that really, but I like having a backup.
Probably get bagged on for rocking an old Lotus and an SX, but I wouldn't wanna jam with people who sneered at brand names anyway.
It is kind of pointless to have three basses and only a 35 watt amp not much larger than a shoebox.
