on our last album I used only one bass track. no clean DI, no multiple rigs/mics or anything. just my rig and a PR-40. we tried the combining tracks thing and I wasn't happy with the results. it just sounded artificial. maybe in the right hands and studio it can work though.

a new studio that opened nearby offered us a free weekend to go and record and help promote the studio. it will be the first time recording with someone other than the guy responsible for all of our albums. should be fun. depending on how it turns out we may release it as a single.

Thought I had was to use the BDDI for a clean and parallel out to the the rest of the pedal board chain ending at the VTRM rig and mic one of the cabs. I'm not going to be using some of the pedals for the recording so I can drop one and add the BDDI for some testing through my mixer to sample the "clean" tone settings. Drummers main band recorded with this guy and they just mic the cab and ran with it. Course this is not an Ampeg proII going through a 810. But it is a close simulation of one. With dirt.

Those AMT pedals...One a wah and the other a volume?

Kinda glad some of these didn't sell. On the fence about the Toke Machine. TM would probably be better on guitar but with the octave up and LED clipping gives lots of tone options. Octave up gives a it of a synth vibe depending on the gain stage.

Yep. Green is the Wah and Yellow is volume. Just punted the Volume and placed the BDDI there to split the signal. Gonna put the SWR SM900 on the JBL 215 cab for clean in a little bit. The Rumble 40 is just not enough to hear over the Power amp rig for clean blend... Signal chain madness.

Guy didn't buy the geddy but still sold enough to make the dano. hopefully get that. tomorrow.

Weirdest guy he complained non stop about pics for two days then all day asked about scratches, dings, chips any way he could about finish flaws and $5. It's not pristine, but not thrashed by any means. No bare wood or dents, just a few surface scratches on the back butt area. He would not take it after we met lol. Said it had to be absolutely pristine looking. Doesn't matter how it sounds or plays just has to be flawless finish as that's what makes them good and the only way he can play them when he plays at home alone he says?

Messing with clean and dirty cabs. Think I like the 215 dirty. SM900 can fry an egg.

The grizzled bluesman R.L. Burnside played a Dano reissue just like the one rere posted but in dark red. What a killer stankety-assed tone. Saw him playing this exclusively at a live show and some TV appearances.

Him not buying the bass kinda peeved me into possibly wanting to keep it and just sell my Squier p bass.

Hope you can work it out. People are fargin weird and annoying with their OCD quirks.

Couldn't sell my gear today because the guitar dude wasn't at the pawn/music shop until next week.

I'm increasingly thinking I gotta keep the Lotus P. If they'll gimme more than $50 for it I will have to sell, but it's the same place I bought it from and I only paid $125 for it...they also have a half dozen other basses hanging in there that they've had forever. I live in a small town so not a big bass demand. Guess i could take it to the city...

The MIM P is now on CL. Just waiting for the flakes to come out of the woodwork.

Did some school work this morning, made dinner, two hours of new vegas now having a beer on the porch before heading to the Solstafir show.

I think I'm going to make Harper's Shack my home base in this go-around of NV. sick of the Novac hotel and the casino suites are a pain in the ass.

back from ny on thursday night, been at a sleazy hotel in tujunga taking turns vomiting and diarrhea cha cha cha with the new gf, st vitus was a cool club, good sound, nice folks, and cheapish beers, gotta say the weird looking blue/black sandblasted fender jazz this guy was playing in a math rock band sounded great through the gk 400 rb and the ampeg fridge, i tried to ignore that we were much older than everybody else, he said it was all stock with the original strings, well so much for obsessing over tone for the last 6 years, tried the new iron maiden trooper beer, but i was so far gone that it didn't taste a whole hell of a lot different thant the st. vitus draft, gonna get my sb-2 back from the luthier on monday and try and decide if i'm just gonna use that or if i'm gonna get another p bass again, my new gf assaulted the guy who owned the house we were staying at when he passed out in the downstairs apartment where we were crashing on his couch , she said i'm ovulating you need get up and get the f out of here so we can make a baby, intense, i also got a new 600 dollar mark jacobs baby blue and hot pink mohair sweater, because it was too big for my fashion merchandising friend, not sure if it's gonna fly at work, but i'm really past the point of caring what those corporate fellows think anymore, the art lecture was weird, because i was just not on after not sleeping for so long and starting to drink again, one good thing that happened is that i got another freelance photo job coming up to fund more bass stuff

Very cool, I've been listening to a lot of early burnside acoustic stuff I'll have to check out his dano stuff.

Two things: delay odyssey for a few hours today. In and out of numerous shops, playing TONS of delay pedals. One of my favorites was actually the Joyo Digital Delay! Anyway, here's the question: is there a good sounding analog delay that doesn't self-oscillate? I realize I could just not make the thing oscillate, but it bugs me that half of a knob's turn is essentially useless. The Aqua Puss sounded awesome, but oscillated like crazy. I'm not into that stuff.

And number 2: Found a Peavey Musician head today for $170. Don't know if that's a good deal or anything, but I know plenty of guys here love Peavey. I was tempted, but have no rig GAS. Figured if any of you local guys wanted, I could point you in the right direction.

I recorded the guitar demos for the Dunwich 1 Knob 1 Switch pedals today. Also messed around with them on bass, they all sound pretty good, haven't recorded any bass demos yet though. Hopefully I'll get around to that tomorrow. We went for a family outing to a food fair this afternoon and there was practically nothing there and what we had sucked. So I made butter burgers for dinner and they came out awesome, yum. Anyone else see Age Of Ultron yet? The wife and I saw it last night and really enjoyed it.

It was in Monterey at the Fairgrounds. It was supposed to be a food truck festival, but there were only about 4 or 5 food trucks. Including one beer and one coffee truck. We ended up getting shawarma and it was wrapped in a store bought tortilla haha. The homemade butter burgers made up for it though.

Oh and we watched the regular version of the movie. No interest in 3D, unless it's filmed to be in 3D.

Well that sucked, no Solstafir or Ancient Wisdom, 3 bands of high schoolers... It was not so good. Hung out with my old drummer, still planning to work out something with his other band members. Ditched the show and ate burritos, I got a gigantic chorizo and potato with HOT salsa verde. Really damn good.
