Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Definitely go for the Miami Vice look.

Unh...gah...

Well, that IS about as 80s as a look can get, but to me (having lived through all this) it was the WORST of the 80s.

What about a goth/Robert Smith of The Cure look? Or total safety pin punk (although none of the punks I ran with did much of that...it was more flannels and Doc Martens...)

Maybe go all...Flock of Seagulls?

Between those concepts I might be able to get something going thanks!

I have a shoulder pad infused blazer somewhere. Need some neon though.

And parachute pants!

Foodie pants with built in lap napkin!

It's all I will wear these days. You get to a certain age and it's all about comfort and functionality over style. "Lap napkin" sounds much better than "crotch bib."

Nah too poor and laid back for that business, I rocked plaid shirts over Samhain T's and red tab Levi's.

Dat is why you are The Man...

(Same here...almost all my clothes came from Goodwill, garage sales or hand-me-downs from my old man. Every so often I'd be able to score a cool band t-shirt, but I made a lot of them myself with Sharpies and spray paint + stencils...ahh, memories...)

Always fun to write Misfits lyrics on your red BoBo's with Sharpies.

Since some of us are tripping down Memory Lane a bit, funny Misfits-related story. I did my undergrad college work from 1986-1990 in a small town in Oklahoma (where, ironically and somewhat accidentally I happen to be living again after more than 25 years...a temporary situation, I hope.)

Anyways, I was blasting the album "Walk Among Us" in my dorm room one day and I was exiting my room to hit the bathroom in the hallway and when I opened my door there were these two cute little small town, wide-eyed freshmen chicks standing there with their jaws dropped. One of them looked at me and said "Is that music legal???"

lolz...

I mean, it was the Misfits. I wonder what they'd have thought if I'd been playing some early Butthole Surfers or Throbbing Gristle...

"No, it isn't, and now it's time to show you too something else that is illegal in this county."
