Speaking of new purchases, and despite my saleman's mood lately, I couldn't stop myself from ordering the new Devi Ever Silver Rose. It's a Super Fuzz > Eau Claire Thunder in parallel. Cannot wait to try this one, should have it by the end of May. 
I've busted two D# strings on my Ric. One on install when bringing up to pitch, and the second on the second session playing it.
Using a 60 for D# is only a half step above it's standard use, but I guess it's too much for these strings, or else there's something abrading the string near the tuning post. The Rics have small-diameter tuning posts, which probably also contributes...

I got a hankerin' to try out that Park Fuzz and the Sound Shank Fuzz by EQD/Park Amps.
I watched the Park Fuzz demo on Alderete's website and it seemed pretty solid.
Forgot to mention I saw Lazer/Wulf in a little house show the other day. Fantastic band live!!!
Yeah I think that Park Fuzz sounds even better then the Sound Shank demo he did.
I just replaced the second string. It had busted coming over the saddle (not up at the nut as I first thought). The saddle does not have much of a groove and I probably moved the string across the saddle a few times. I think these strings don't like higher tension.
Bummer. I think I bought four packs of strings in the last two months to try on the Jazzguarbird. Just tuning normal E standard though. Tried the new balanced tension Daddario's in two gauges and they are nice, and a set of Prosteels which were cool too, but I kept changing back to my Fender Tapewounds, so I bought a set of Custom Light Chromes and think I finally found my strings.
Well, it turned out that we played without the new singer tonight, work held him home.
Our new drummer is pretty raw, but he's got the right attitude - he practices a lot, has GAS and, what is most important, is our good buddy and my former flatmate. Also, was our first choice for drummer but had issues back when we were starting.
Our previous drummer, apart from being a flake, was a total cheapskate. The running joke was that if he was a guitarist, he'd complain that practice space doesn't provide instrument cables,
We made a new song - it's in larval form right now, but we named it Guantanamo - because you can torture people with it
I think we're going to make a turn to more monotonous, psychedelic playing. I didn't think changing one musician can change this much. But it's all for good y'all!
I'm pretty stoked, can't wait to next week's practice.

I was really into them when they first kicked off...Chronic Town... Actually used to correspond with them. At one point I had several promo albums, photos, autographed copies of set lists and other crud they'd send me. After Lifes Rich Pageant I completely stopped listening to them. I still pull them out occasionally...I think Reckoning is probably my fave
Yes...I never understood the punks I hung out with. They used to give me chit because some of the stuff I listened to wasn't punk rock enough.
Some of them were into a very few non-punk bands (it was "acceptable" to dig Motorhead and Sabbath...) but I liked a lot of other weirdo music, lots of bands like Maiden and Slayer and Anthrax...through my dad I was also interested in 50s-60s jazz and 20th century classical...the more dissonant, atonal stuff. But I did get greif for it, especially from bandmates. Not that I cared.

don't get a brand new one if you do, shop around. US prices are hella good on old 4001 or 4003 basses i must say. a new 4003 here is $4.3k retail, but i got mine including shipping and taxes for $2.6k or something like that.

quick question - lot of talk about cab builds. is it possible to add a series jack to a cabinet? like, if i come across a 4 ohm 8x10 or 2x15 for use at a venue, can i get a series jack installed in my 4 ohm 215 cabinet in order to use both at the same time through the same head, running at 8 ohms?
