Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Start a family doom project...Jucifer has been living the riff nomadic life for over a decade now with fromnwhat ive heard like 9 dogs/cats with great success.

Okay...will read up on this for sure. Familiar with the name Jucifer but not the music really. Will check out, and thanks!

You need a micro house. Those things are cheap per unit. You could have 4 units for 8,000 and each person has their own space. Build courtyard/patio/common area in the middle with a roof like a gazebo.

Funny you should mention this--it's an idea we've kicked around and is something I hope to bring up as an alternative to the RV thing. After a lifetime of moving around endlessly over sometimes great distances, I would really like something of a "home base." Somewhere that is stable, more or less permanent and more solid than an RV.

There are several variations of this idea that I think would work as well...mini concrete dome homes, permanent yurts, etc. Courtyard commons and all.

If we could do this cheaply enough, I'd be down for maybe getting a smaller, cheaper RV to take trips in. In the past it seems like we've done it backwards...like "I'm tired of this place..let's find a job and move our whole lives 1500-2000 miles away at a cost of $7000!"

Now I'm hoping to have a kind of HQ and just strike out on occasional road trips/journeys. Wouldn't even really need an RV (and you can rent those too, though I imagine it's not cheap.) Could do it with a good SUV and decent camping gear.

Anybody know how to mod the input cap of the most recent DOD 250 release? Been looking at getting another 250, but I had one before and felt the bass was cut slightly. May or may not be an issue as I've recently cut bass anyway, but if I can combat that, I'd like to. Got a line on a used one with true bypass etc. cheaper than buying the old ones w/o and modding, so I figured if it's just a simple cap switch it'd be easy. I just don't know which cap it would be, and what to change it to! Thanks!

Would be a fun addition to the noise board.
If you have anything with an expression pedal or a wah, the swells are amazing through the feedback looper. I think I might just need to find someone that can help me rehouse this baby. I'd replace the toggle switch (which activates the chaos mode) and make it a foot switch. Anyone know people that do this, on the mega cheap? I am pretty damn broke and would rather buy something else than have to fix this pedal over and over.

If I had any, I'd either set you up with me as silent partner, or relocate to the Golden State and do it with ya.

I'm real easy to work with.
if I researched how to get on the military bases, I could clean up. We got 4 military compounds here. Could you imagine parking in the Air Force academy and serving 200 sandwiches a day? Would be easy. Night shifts would be all profit.

I can work with anyone. I'm a people person.

Playing catch up, nothing quite like the detox from anti-seizure medicine sheesh, thanks doc for trying me on that one for migraines!

Yesterday was NPD but it is already listed in the classifieds LOL. Does sound cool on bass and really nails that ambient wash sound but I dig delay way more then reverb.

I want to try hammock camping. I like the micro house better then the RV thing once you really decide on a place. Especially since places like where I live won't allow you to live in an RV on land you own.

@askrere I forgot to mention about the Slash, if you don't engage the white bass into fuzz button then you get no fuzz(it is bypassed) and just get the clean octave down on it's own but you can still engage the octave up switch. Kind of weird how that works.

They just passed laws to allow those gut trucks in Newport News area. I want to make a kava kava gut truck or bar.

Can't bath leela for the whole two weeks of healing...

How's she doing? I don't bathe my pups that often, but they are inside most of the time.

She smelled fine until I picked her up from the vet. She smells like sterilized animal sadness which is how the vet office smelled.

Haha yeah, they all smell like that.

We haven't got Violet snipped and stuck yet. Gotta happen soon.

We've been training Violet to sit and wait for us to put out food for her so she doesn't jump all over everything and splay herself out over her bowl before we can even get food down. So she realizes now that she has to sit before she gets fed.

NOW what she's doing is--whenever someone is in the kitchen, she will walk around and around in front of you until you make eye contact with her, then she gives you this look like "You're seeing this, right?" And then without taking her eyes of you for a second she sits down very deliberately. "See? I'm sitting. You are to give me food now."

Does anyone rate the MXR El Grande Bass Fuzz as being decent? It's about the only pedal I own at the moment but I've only been able to play it through a tiny, tinny, crap amp. I get the feeling it would do pretty well through a lot of power, but I can't tell with what I have to work with.

On the amp front, may not be giggable, but I could be scoring a used Peavey TKO 115S soon. I am just gonna have to wait to put together something big and serious. Maybe next years tax return. In the meantime, the Peavey will certainly serve me better than what I have now.

Leela is quietly unhappy, so not enjoying hyper captivity, but not suffering. She's So quiet I've actually forgotten I have her a couple times.

It's been a week come tomorrow, and vet said confine her for 10-14 days. Once that mending period ends she's ready, everything's out of the way, just play and training and being a puppy.

I feed her in her crate so she associates it with a decent place to be. Even if I just slide it in and walk away leaving the door open

In talks with Saturnworks now. I think it's going to be pretty reasonable to transfer the guts to a newer, bigger box. And, replace the toggle with a foot switch. He quoted me $19 plus shipping, but I'm not sure I explained it right. Anyways, even if it's a few bucks more for r the enclosure, I'm doing it. Might slap the ancient psychic tandem war elephant graphic on this, finally!
