Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

The DOD 250 is really dependent on what's in front of and after it. I had different experiences with different pickups, amps and cabs. Also depending on volume levels. I really liked it with a hot pickup and pushing the cab really hard. Occasionally I paired it with a really tight sounding distortion, like a Boss DS-1, that gave it some more edge. Of course I got both for about $20 each, so that was a rig of budgetary convenience.
To be honest, I really liked the sound! I just don't need it at all. I have an OD/fuzz sound with my GK Rails pedal. I just need a slight OD to grit it up a bit more. If I was in a pure stoner/doom band, I would just buy the 250 and have that as the entirety of my board. It sounds amazing solo, but not with the rest of my rig. If I see a used one pop up cheap, I'll be grabbing it. It's worth having, but not for that price if it's just gonna sit in my closet.

Hmm, wife just texted me that we got a check for $1800 from the IRS in the mail, along with a separate envelope containing a letter that says we got this check because we never cashed a previous check from 2013.

I remember 2013, there's no way in hell we forgot to cash a check.

It's not our tax refund, we already got that.

So... woohoo?

Gonna call them tonight and make sure it's legit, really hope it is.

$1800...brand new Ric?

Heres a video of what a feedback looper can do. They are all mostly the same thing.

Wow, thanks for posting! I was thinking about building a feedback loop into one of my next builds, but wasn't really sure how they worked or what exactly they did. Now I am more informed and will be building one. Really is making me reconsider the master attenuator I am putting into my 5 channel looper... all it would take would be one more hole and a switch...

If you have anything with an expression pedal or a wah, the swells are amazing through the feedback looper. I think I might just need to find someone that can help me rehouse this baby. I'd replace the toggle switch (which activates the chaos mode) and make it a foot switch. Anyone know people that do this, on the mega cheap? I am pretty damn broke and would rather buy something else than have to fix this pedal over and over.

If you paid for parts and shipping I'd do it for you for free. I think since you posted this you may have sorted it all out with Saturn, but I would do it fo free.

Haha, yeah. "Sorry honey, I called the IRS and it was a fake check, too bad. PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE BASS IN THE BASEMENT."

If it works out to not be a mistake she'll get a new laptop, I'll get that SWR 610 (if I like it) and we'll put the rest in the ol' savings account to use for travel/emergencies.

Yep. Boring adults over here.

Travel is not boring, I can't wait to go on a vacation again.

listening to the new High on Fire...not bad but not great either. Is it just me or does Matt Pike's singing get more constipated with each album?
Instrumentation and production wise, it sounds really good.

Well since he quit drinking he's probably no longer suffering from the chronic alcoholic bowel evacuation syndrome - hence constipated vocals.

I'm digging the hell out of the new album. The Falconist and the Cave are shaging ridiculously awesome.

I'm sure this is going to sh*t all over the new Slayer album that's coming out.
