not really, maybe rio grande pickups. Push pull coil taps would be cool and cheap. The necks on those are awesome.

Umm a $500 modern Jazz and a brand new AmpegV112 with the fake 60 degree thing and Scrambler. In total it was about $1000 worth of gear with a stein-berg ur-22 interface
I'm going to try and find an appropriate distortion with some VST and a lot of virtual eq and compression before I spend $250 on a b3k Darkglass lol
Any replacement pickups for this model? I just had to buy the one bass with no after-market pickup options...geez
Yeah for sure, more woodshed is always a good answer to mistakes while playing, that said if your bands anything like mine it tends to speed up while on stage due to nerves, screws me up everytime.
Also your drummer sounds like a ****, I'm all for trying to be as good as I possibly can on stage but when I screw up and I know I have the last thing I need is someone jumping down my throat and yelling about it. I play in an originals band for fun and catharsis not because I want to be ridden over some screw ups, I'm always my hardest critic and I'd probably tell him to shove it if he came at me like that when I was already pissed at myself.
You know what? Nothing is wrong with them. Fender Spec. Fender quality.
Whether it's a new pickup or a new Keyboard Amp, I always get an itch for new gear after band practice, heh. =)
Yeah, I asked because I've played a jazz bass like that before, and I actually liked it better than the two single coils. My favorite tone on a Fender, actually.
Would you mind sharing what your favorite knob setting was? Would love to know Sartori.
I find myself with both pickups dimed out and tone at 25%-50% when I play with a drummer and two guitars.
Quick question: Does it take a tube amp to reap the FULL benefits of a pre-amp pedal?
Am I better off using solid state Ampeg scrambler, then getting a pre-amp pedal?
Bridge pickup heavily favored was the setting that sounded most to my liking, neck pickup only a little bit on. Tone at 100% of course because I never use tone knobs.

I'm not sure how well those settings would work long term, this was on a bass I was trying out but didn't quite have enough money to buy at the time. The bass I use in Catapult is a Peavey modded with a Rickenbacker pickup.
How loud? Well When the drums are in session, I would like to assume that I am pushing my 75 watts at like maybe 80-90% of max vol on the amp. To be honest, It's barely loud enough for the drums, but good enough to keep the two guitarists in time. It gets the job done by the skin of it's teeth.
I don't know what to say about the Scrambler except that I have it off the WHOLE time when I play with my band. strongly feel that if the BRAND NEW Ampeg DI is basically MY AMP with the exact same Legacy circuits...Then...I am hugely dissapointed.
The new Legacy board by Ampeg in my opinion is very boring. Very straight-forward.
But yeah, My guitarist was like... "Don't spend $250 on the B3K, it's gonna sound like the Ampeg Scrambler but a bit more 'crisp'
Hes wrong it sounds nothing like an ampeg. B3k and b7k have something completely different than that going on. It may or may not be worth 250 bucks to you but it definately doesn't sound like an ampeg.
On another note band practice was great tonight, made huge progress on a new song. Had a drunk couple banging on the Door telling us how awesome we sound and wanting to hang out and listen to us practice. We politely declined but it was still entertaining. We practice right down the road from a Frisbygolf park and have people stopping by and complementing us frequently.

Doing a really fun record this week. I'm producing and playing electric and upright bass. The engineer asked me to play through his rig
1964 Ampeg B15n that the engineer bought from Jess Oliver (the guy who invented the B15). Cool little pice of history right there!
I"m not going to point fingers. Well see tomorrow if he wants to. I wasn't the one to throw a stick at the last two shows... So if he wants to go there, I can. Going to focus on me and be sure it's not a reoccurring issue. No matter how small the stage in the future I'm not setting up behind him. Sound guy also DI my preamp so the drum monitor and I was probably blasting my mistakes. The venue is small enough there is probably no need for the additional reinforcement if the band is bringing good gear.
I would wait on a preamp or dirt pedals until you get a amp that you can run louder to see if you even need the pedals. If your amp is working that hard anything you run in front of it might just overload it and make it sound distorted in a bad way. I thought the scrambler was kind of meh in that particular amp. Its maybe ok for some low gain tones with some tweaking but sounds like your running your amp pretty hard already. $250 could snag you a peavey 400 series amp and possibly a decent sized cab. I think the peavey is a awesome amp and can be had usually for $100 or less. Loud as balls too. Also could possibly score a older peavey cab for around $100-150. I used a peavey amp at practice for a minute and it's a sleeper IMO. I also took a older peavey 215 to backline a benefit and it sounded great all night. Pics of both
Saw those pics on Facebook, so cool. The amp looks like it was frozen in time after it was bought from Jess. That that guy with the digital recording post, lol. Way to try to suck the fun out of it. Digital is cool and nice if you have the right rig, good plug ins, and doing something on the fly. Nothing replaces the sound of a bass thru a real B-15. Heck I used the same one I've been borrowing for the last 2 recording I have done. Hell one of the recording I used it for was for a metal band, lol.

Oh is the scrambler just a built in dirt circuit in the amp? It's not the old analog octave fuzzy box effect?
I think if you play at low volumes most dirt sounds bad, and most low wattage combos sound bad cranked. No win but middle ground where you basically play loud for yourself but can't keep up.

FYI I just saw on Facebook that JMac is selling his Orange TB1000 for $600 plus shipping with the head case he makes. It is in green tolex now but I am sure he would redo it in another color if you paid for the tolex.
Good news! Peavey is running like a champ! Bad news, one of the 15s in my yamaha finally went. The older one. It fell off a curb the last time we moved it. Fell right on the ground, like smack! Also, instead of it being an amp going bad, causing that crazy hissing noise, it's a pedal, or cable or something. I'm just glad it's not the amp.
So the peavey 6-10 and the Carvin 2-15 stack covered bass duty really well. Even though that 6-10 is more for guitar or keys. Going to get the dual amp mode going again soon. Still have to figure out venting for amp as it was running hot.
