Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Oh is the scrambler just a built in dirt circuit in the amp? It's not the old analog octave fuzzy box effect?

I think if you play at low volumes most dirt sounds bad, and most low wattage combos sound bad cranked. No win but middle ground where you basically play loud for yourself but can't keep up.

The scrambler was an old analog stomp box. I think he is referring to the new ampeg DI with a scrambler circuit built in.

Morning dudes. P project is done. Here's the Black Beauty:

Need to lower the action slightly, otherwise it's good to go. Sounding beastly!

in an interesting development...
my drummer continues to not pay me for the drawing of the nude girl with the camera and the airplane flying over her that he "bought" from me last winter
he has offered to give me his vintage hot pink ibanez sr800 pj in lieu of payment, unfortunately i love this bass, the neck is chunky and dead straight, while the tone is punchy and focused, it's a good contrast to the g&ls, at this time i need cash though for a new pro camera lens and a ny plane ticket
i've already got two sweet vintage hot rodded mij squiers that i can't seem to sell for the life of me and i need $$$

Did they remove the praise and worship thread?

I wanted to ask how many make gear choices based on names. Like would a Mormon play a Big muff, or a Christian rocker a hail satan? Would you play a clone of rehoused circuit or is it tainted by original name and perceived use/meaning?

*enter weird idea* There was a Mormon company that used to do edited movies for modesty until copywrite lawsuits took them down. Wonder if there's a market for Christian themed circuits, never made with the intention of playing the Devils music.

I'd pay $250 tops
In the ad, the guy claims he just spent exactly that much at some swanky Seattle tech outfit for a "tune-up" of his rig!
We might have to accept that due to relentless fawning kvlt worship on the part of the hip, trend-setting, taste-making, style-profilin' scene-makers that we are, these kinds of rigs have gone up in value a wee bit.

I remember a thread about people not wanting to play or covering up some pedals with tape to hide the graphics/names.

Black Beauty looks badass. If you get a chance please make a quick recording. Reason being I'm hanging on the edge of ordering a geezer to throw into my G&L, in place of the MFD.

Planning on doing a quick shareable demo tonight.

I remember a thread about people not wanting to play or covering up some pedals with tape to hide the graphics/names.

There was a thread in Effects forum not long ago about Abominable DSOM and it got immediately derailed by dude saying that he had a Hail Satan, it sounded awesome, but it was against his beliefs and had to sell it and he condemns this company yadda yadda yadda.

AE's stuff is awesome, though. Great value. We're using his Yeti Metal (HM-2 clone, now called Throne Torcher) on guitar in my new band. Rips. I also had his Hail Satan fuzz and it sounded great but I sold it off in my spring purge.
