I do the opposite. Keep the amp clean so I at least have that option then get all the dirt via stompboxes. There is no wrong way, obviously.

I know Jeff and I was hoping to get us on this bill, but wasn't sure we'd be ready. I'll talk to the guys and see if they think we can swing it. We're not textbook sludge, but we're heavy as shag so it could work.

I was doing that but the OD on the 2-pro sounds SO awesome.
NBD: The Aria Mach 1 P bass arrived safe & sound. Looks good, sounds great & mapley. Need to set it up to my tastes. Gonna be C standard. 1974 according to my internet research which would make it a first model year.
I may swap out the bridge for a BA. Not only is the original pretty wimpy, it's both rusty & sharp. Already cut me. Pups are DiMarzio's, I believe.

MMMMMMMM Mapley. Being that the pickups are white probably stay with the white guard. Nice looking hunk of wood you have there.
For sure some DNA and rust has bled under the finish. Good luck on the bridge swap.

Addendum: hmm, maybe putting a bridge cover back on makes more sense?
I just couldn't play with one... Just tear it down and clean it up. Is it the height adjustment poles that are sharp? I'm still tempted to grind down most all of them on the RB650. Little difficult to palm mute a porcupine.
Yeah, height adjustment screws are razor-fuggin' sharp. I could just file 'em down once I get the action & intonation set. I don't mind the rust/crust.
Or get a bridge cover

You're the only person I've heard like the vocals on the newer Baroness stuff. My issue with them is that on Green & Yellow and what seems like the upcoming one is he focused all the songwriting around supporting the vocal lines as a lead instrument and hes not that good of a singer. I also hated the production on Green & Yellow the guitars were crazy shrill and the vocals were really high in the mix. Also, where are the riffs? No good riffs on Green & Yellow.
I think Baroness was a lot better with the original lineup.
I am a weirdo too. I like Green and Yellow for some reason, well I like all their stuff. I tend to dislike most vocals and try to find as much instrumental music and strange ear challenging music as possible usually, but for some reason I like that album. I like bouncing around the house making dinner or doing guitar maintenance to it. I like it for background music or a palate cleanser album for me. I actually put it on to try my new stereo receiver out last night while cooking. I don't listen to much straight forward metal? I guess, so it is nice to spin it occasionally for me.

To me for Baroness the Red album is just so dynamic and brilliant, the later stuff just doesn't have it. There's a TON of rhythmic movement on Red and the songwriting is really different on each track. Lots of great riffs and good lyrics as well. I don't feel any of that with their newer stuff. The newer stuff is a lot more pared down and feels really sell-outy to me.
Yeah I can see that point. I like bands to be as eclectic as they want to be though. I don't know much about the metal scene so maybe they sold out or maybe they got bored and wanted to try other things. I just like variety I guess.
