Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

My wife and I have pretty much quit. I've had maybe one and a half cigarettes in the past month.

We are still hooked on tobacco (though plan to wean off it completely)--but we have been using this:

It's called "snus." It's been around in Sweden for centuries. Camel actually makes a snus (which I don't care much for) but this General brand stuff is pretty good and strong. It will KILL your cig cravings, at least in our experience.

The thing I like about snus is that unlike most oral tobacco--including that nasty "Skoal-in-a-pouch" type stuff, you don't have to spit. Nobody knows you have one in your mouth.

Is snus good for you? No. But undoubtedly less harmful to lungs and hear than smoking.

I have used snus quite a bit. It does work for weaning off the nicotine. For me the routine of when I smoke(particularly at work) is the bigger issue. I actually smoke far less at home. When I drive, work or play music though I chain smoke. I felt disgusted on Tuesday when I realized that I had smoked a pack and a half BEFORE I even got to practice. I really hate it. I know that my problems are likely smooth sailing to others, but between my girl and my job, I'll be 50 before I turn 30. It's a very stressful environment for me. I thrive under pressure so I actually like the intensity of it all, but it is a lot of stress.

I just had my new pan bread guy who I have only had for a week and a half and had to bitch for months to get(not him specifically, just extra hands) tell me that this was his last week on overnights. When I told him that I would get back to him after the scheduling supervisor makes his final decision, the guy looked at me and said, "well it's my decision and I don't want to work this shift".

I mean he's absolutely right. It is his choice. I don't think he realizes though that his other option is more than likely the door.

Makes my job harder for obvious reasons, but also because I struggle to keep my group motivated. They are tired of working 12 hours 6 days a week.

Squanch, when you get the Kava hook up, let me know. I'll buy my first batch from you!

Will do and thanks I appreciate it. I really like the strain of Fijian I got from the supplier, it is very euphoric in higher doses, the most euphoric kava I have had yet. Lower doses smoothes out the day from stress too. I have been drinking kava for a while now so I don't have reverse tolerance anymore so it hits me very consistently whenever I fast from food for about 3 hours. Hopefully I get the test results back quick and get sales going soon. The Tongan is close in feel to the Fijian but a little milder, still great stuff though.

Rather in it.

You'll have to disengage my face from there first.

Idea just struck--kava in snus form! There has GOT to be a market for this!

Lol my junior year of high school this Swedish foreign exchange student showed up. Super cute, and she would use those. One day in gym we are all in the upper bleachers and this guy we are with is like "dude can I have one!".

He proceeded to get kinda quiet, then we all get up to leave and he just collapses and rolls down the bleachers from the buzz.

Had a friend with a drill press drill my 1590B for my Rat clone, used the template from the PCB supplier's website. Holes are TOO SMALL by a mm or two. Was really hoping to finish it up this week. Trying to decide if I should try to embiggen the holes myself or if I should give them back to mr. drill press for a more professional embiggening.

Should probably just give it back to dude.

Every time I ever drill a hole for a pedal or amp it's 1mm too small or 5mm too big.
A reamer followed up by a deburring tool will fix it real quick like. Could probably do it with just a deburring tool if it's really just 1mm and aluminum.

If I'd gotten this damn thing before I built my first amp, i'd have like 30 hours more of my life back, ha ha

I know it sounds lame but be careful, stress can mess up your brain.

Oh I loved Battlestar Galactica, so miss that show.

Huh she doesn't look as Asian there as in the show. Maybe cause she's looking at an angle the slant is lessened lol...

But, that face and body, that's pretty close to what the 10 girl who keeps hitting me up then hiding looks like, as she's not Asian, but she isn't white.

So maybe that will elaborate on while ill deal with her weekly flakey asking to see if we can get together. Worst case scenario is life goes on, so I'll play it out and see if she actually starts having me over again. Because yum

technical question time: if you have a one knob fuzz that is just way too much signal and fuzz for your medium watt tube head

Should i run it into a volume pedal?
Should i run it into a blender pedal?
Should i just use it with my 6 watt solid state practice amp at the house and quit overthinking this?

You got a low gain input? Or just drop the input some. Unless that then alters volume and non fuzz volume/tone too much.
