I pants sneezed a little there, Sexy!!! That would be nice in a normal four banger with that triple p pickup configuration.
Dunno if any of you guys ever listen to Vulfpeck, but I've been listening to them a ton lately, especially having joined a funk group.
I was listening to that, and it reminded me of something I really love, which is clav or a brash piano doubling a bass line. That in turn got me thinking about a midi equipped bass where I can trigger a clav sample to double along with me. After searching, beside the Peavey Midibase, tracking seems to be a real drag on the low notes. TECHNOLOGY, CATCH UP WITH MY VISION, UGH.

I like the DOD Octoplus I just got. You can snatch them for $40-$50. It's one octave lower, with direct volume, octave volume, and octave tone control. Nothing fancy, but seems to work just fine. The OC-2 is another perennial favorite. Two octaves lower, each with their own volume, and a direct volume. I personally went Octoplus for financial reasons and because I felt the 2nd lower octave was unnecessary for me, but a tone control could be handy.
Gotta play it some and get a verdict. I just tested it with my phone and a 1/4 to 1/8 aux cable at a grocery store, using the power outlet for the coin car ride lol.
Some guy screamed "Peavey?!?! FVCK YEAH!!!" As I tested it lol.
Fits on the bassic though, so if you add a bass head, it makes a little practice tower.
So did some SG and harmony playing into it, no pedals yet.
I recommend it for $150 you couldn't go wrong. I guess I traded a free to me acoustic, but still it was a good one.
First thing I notice, is its kinda muddy, there's a tight/loose switch and A/AB class switch in the back. I prefer the loose and A sides so far... Go figure? Then I have the bass cut to 9 O' clock, mids cranked and treble boosted to 3 o'clock. I used similar settings on the Classic 30.
I just read putting a patching cable in the effects send/return opens the amp up. I'll try that when I get back home. If I keep it, I'd find a replacement speaker that's spankier, and upgrade to the double wide 3 spring reverb tank for $18.95.

Moment of "Duh" here. I should probably try the American as a doom pedal on my guitar. Love it on bass, but never quite makes the cut with my boutique dirt available. Guitar would be a no-brainer. I'll have to A/B it to my BK Butler Real Tube tomorrow. I imagine the American should be able to be fat, dark, and just a bit gritty. (You know, how I like my significant others.) Worth it to try, anyway. For that matter, I should try the UD as well.
Any tips on settings (for either pedal) for an overdriven doom sound? Don't want fuzz or distortion, just big, fat doom with some crunch. Like Candlemass style or something.

I don't remember settings but I used the American on guitar a few times and really liked it.
trying to go for the mantic density hulk, kind of changed my mind about synthy stuff, the guitar player has a million pedals and i think deep and clean is the way to go now for the goth post punk country project
Yeah, I've seen those and they look like they (C9, B9, Key9) work great for guitar, but not so much on bass. And for some reason, between 3 pedals, no Clav sim? Really?
I'm wondering if the Roland Midi pickup might work better on an 8-string. It seems they have trouble tracking down below open A, and track better in higher registers, so maybe the octave string on the 8 would allow for better tracking. Or the two notes might just confuse the hell out of it.

Supposed to track better than the Roland pickup. Really don't know though, personally never tried.

Never played an 8 string, I wonder if a set of flats for the fundamental and a set of rounds for the octaves. Give it a bit more difference between the two tones.
2nd time in a row now that a guy gave me a tracking number that didn't register. It was three days ago, so I mentioned it. Now he says he personally dropped it off the day of purchase (Sunday?) and it's their fault, and I should check again.

density hulk was bought from the tb classifieds, now i'm just waiting for a super cheapy synth pedal to come my way

Good news is tonight I'm gonna slip out and doom hard to Beneath Oblivion, Chrch, and local heavies (Sorxe, Grey Gallows, No Shores).
Bad news is my Hex Volt drummer Jim broke his arm over the weekend. We will be out of commission for who knows how long and will almost certainly have to drop out of our own CD release show early next month.
