Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

My price? $0.00.

although i will have to find a pickup for it. Any suggestions on that front? i'm thinking of a 1/4 pounder, but haven't looked into too many options that fit the '51 routing, as i just found out this thing existed/got it 2 hours ago

Buddy of mine got of those when they came out, they are really nice basses - that single p pickup sounds beefy as hell.

Edit: missed the part about the pickup being gone. I'm sure fender sells a few different replacements. The one I played sounds really good with just the stock pickup.

NBD. MIJ Paisley P. Got it from a guy i used to work with who got it from some guy who skipped town.

I believe @askrere has stuck a GFS Lil' Killer (single-coil sized humbucker, budget Hot Rails) in a Bronco with good results. I use a GFS Lil' Killer in the bridge J spot in my main P-J frankensquier. It won't give you the super clean super deep lows, but it's a nice fat tone that drives dirt well.

So the wife REALLY likes All Them Witches. We saw them opening for the Sword last month, and after their set, she says "I LOVE them".
"All of them?" I ask.
"Yes." she says
"At the same time??"
"YES" she reiterates.

well alrighty then. Hive mind, any recommendations for stuff in a similar vein? Dynamic contrasts, dreamy bits then fuzzy riffs, maybe some organ and some slide guitars?

Came back for this...

She like the mellow parts? She like Beatles? = Tame Impala

Similar style, Switch to female vocals = As Stated before - Black Mountain. Also Sleepy Sun.

More sophisticated stoner swagger from Tennesee? = The hEAVY eYES

IN OTHER NEWS, absolutely crushed my left pointer finger yesterday moving logs, went to the ER today to have it looked at. Good news, not broken. Bad news, still really swollen. Good news, the doctor used this tool to burn through the finger nail to drain all the blood, told me I could keep the tool. Score.

Been still working way too much, Christmas sucks. Took a couple of days down to sydney to relax and visit my family but it turned out to be more stressed than it was worth.

Doom band is on hold due to guitarist going outta town, but we have gigs booked when he comes back. Punk band is trying out a singer tomorrow.

Indeed, just sold the bronco, kept that pickup. It's in a lap steel now.

With the bass tuned to Bead, low switch I made on, into the GK mb500 and dually. I made the popcorn fall from the ceiling. Boom boom boom!

Damn my friend called me last night with the same story (substitute right thumb, car door). They didn't give him the cauterizer... Lucky you

I can't find any good price comp. data. $389 doesn't sound too bad at first glance. They've only had the bass about a week so I doubt they'll take less.

I paid $90, people offered trades ranging from $300-$600, but I'm keeping it.

Edit: mines missing the stock gold pickups and pickguard and stuff associated with both.

I'll swing by and check it out. I know a lot of dudes there, so maybe they'd take a lower offer. Don't feel like dropping four hundy though my inner Geddy fanboy is getting pretty fired up.
