Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I used to have one of these Warwick Streamer Standards that had a bucker in the sweet spot. That was a cool Rock sounding Warwick.

I'm not all that satisfied with tonal differences with the ATK pickup. Even with the three coils it all sounds so similar. I just keep it in humbucker position and EQ flat. Make tonal adjustments on the pedals and preamp.
Have been considering another warmoth build for years a G4 to match my Gecko has been the thought lately. Toying around I place the MM pickup in the sweet spot on the build sheet.

Mine has pretty significant differences in the 3 different settings, big lowend boost in the "neck" position, treble, bite/agressive in the neck position. Middle position is just kind of lacking to my ears. I usually keep it in the neck position.

The 90's model I had (was it a 300? I can't remember, whatever the original one was), it wasn't a huge difference between the modes. Noticeable solo, but really not drastic.

I'm still happy with what it's doing for me and the bass construction is outstanding.

Just get a P-bass, damnit.
I have a PJ RB650 and now the Black Eagle for a J. But both feel like toys compared to the ATK or Gecko. Hence contemplating another warmoth build... Walnut core/Koa top and birdseye neck would have some heft to it.

Damn Mr. Grumpy has some girth.

Yep, the original plan was to build a 415 to go under it, but the funds got diverted to emergency dental work right before I was going to buy the materials. Then I was going to have Atlas make me something, but yadda yadda financial woes. The 810 sounds great with it though. The amp is very hi-fi naturally, so the high end roll off of the sealed 810 compliments it nicely.

Pretty much.

After playing the Rick almost exclusively since my last report, I finally took some time to switch back to the Precision and though "Wait, why do I ever play anything else?" Precision + Sunn is really something special. Mind, the Rick won't be going anywhere, but it's funny when you get all hyped on a new bass only to go back to an old one and realize it's still got everything you wanted anyways.
