Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I'm too cheap for real P bass, so I made my own...

No SVT either, I have to get by with this little guy...

I grudgingly accept this.

Squier short scales > peavey Rockmaster > dually

Aka $ > $$ > $$$

Guitar side of things. Ever have an amp that does everything you theoretically need an amp do, but just don't feel happy with it? The valveking 1x12 is 100% fine in my book, but I just feel I need something else for no justifiable reason.

Is it a dick move to email cList ads to tell them their stuffs over priced.

As in, months old ad that gets repeatedly pushed up near daily asking like 3-4x what the gears ever worth.

I just say hey, I'm not trying to haggle, hate on or buy from you. But I think if your looking to make a sale you'd get more luck at $xxx.xx than going months expecting some grand payout.

I felt that way about my Eden WT550. Perfect preamp in my opinion and a lot of power, just not enough for my needs.

I want to do this frequently but refrain. I've done it in the past when my attempts to haggle to a reasonable price, not a deal mind you... Fair market because it was something I wanted, have elicited a mildly hostile and indignant response. I may do this still to the guy with the charitable 2000s cab deal.

I feel like its probably not worth it.

Absolutely not worth it in the long run, but when dealing with a dolt, catharsis can be oh so sweet.

I only do it when I don't want what's for sale, and the ad says something that hints to them needing money, but yea.

Occasionally i have and been thanked. other times people's got mad. I guess if you legit need money, you'd be greatful someone let you know why you're not making any cash.

But I've also told people when they are selling stuff for too little so it balances out in the great world of classified carma lol.

In other news, yesterday evening went to an ostrich farm. Cool stuff

Apparently they had a multi million dollar breeding pairs/eggs deal with Brazil. Then some doofus decided to go scout the farm for free in his hot air balloon and scared the birds causing a stampede that killed off 800 of 1600 breeding age birds.

I haven't ever told anyone that their prices were too high, but I've done the opposite.

Not sure how many of you are familiar with the SG Brand "Pizza Oven" amps from the 70s. Giant combo amps w/ Solid state pre, tube power 60W or so, built-in Maestro phaser, 4x10 drivers. There's one in a local shop for $500, seen them go on ebay for more than that. Well one popped up on CL locally a couple of months back for $50. Old guy that didn't know what he had. I emailed him as soon as I saw the ad, with every intention of buying. He said that he had about 6 people in front of me wanting to buy it. So, I emailed him the local store's ad for the same amp, charging 10 times what he was, also linked to closed auctions on eBay. Didn't hear back, but I like to think that he didn't get totally ripped off. Kind of poopy of me, but I don't feel bad about it.
