Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Well the decision may have been made by fate. Just scoped the bay and see a new but open box Prolite 3.0 for $390. Still has the full 5 year manufacturer warranty. With a couple gift cards, Christmas money and a couple fortunate scratcher cards I can grab this with no additional out of pocket expenses. Looks like I'll be giving Crest another shot with 5 years of ass covering if necessary.

That's awesome. I've had mine about 6 months of light usage. But so far it's been 100% positive.

New guitar cab day. Mini stack matches my bass mini stack!

Loaded with a pair of Lil' Texas drivers. Cab is an easy one hand carry, loud as most guitar 412's.

Day 3...

Drove up around Hwy 22 from Traverse City, such a beautiful area. Sledded down Sleeping Bear Dunes, glad we brough a sled. And drove through many a "cute" downtowns along the lakeshore. Once we got to Hwy 31 meeting up with I94, theres wasnt much scenic drives left, so we cruised all the way home.

All in all, super fun and cheapish trip. Glad it snowed because that really made the winter time trip perfect. We deffinitely want to do it again in summer or fall time when the towns are a little less desolate.

The KT90's have a freaking amazing midrange detail and aggressioin that is unlike most bass amp tubes (6L6's, 6550's etc). God I'm so pumped...

so, finally picked up a pickup for the paisley tele-bass. the wiring for what was left of the old PU had the black lead from the PU and the ground wire soldered to the tone pot, and the white from the PU to the volume, the wiring diagram from Seymour Duncan shows everything going to the volume. who is right, or does it matter?

also, i just had to pull about 6 feet of string out of the mouth of the cat i am cat-sitting. good times

If the diagram has one of the wires soldered to the volume pot itself and not a lug then yes, it's the same. With a one pickup passive bass it's essentially the hot wire going to the volume and the other wire going to ground.

yeah, white to a little nubby-deal (technical term), black directly to the pot along with the ground.


update.

i really, really dig this bass. worth the $50 the PU cost at least a dozen times over.

Dang Holiday junk food. I have been eating healthier the last few months. Now there is candy, cake, and cookies all over the house. Plus I had a hankering for pizza and nachos last night since I was flying solo for dinner. Big mistake, brutal rib tickler sessions, I will even be wiping behind my knees and ear lobes for the next few days.
