Good eye.
Getting used to the VTRM gain settings took me a bit. Settled on the SVT "like" settings w a little EQ tweaks I can't open it up much more than quarter throttle on the master. I was choking back the amp to see if the tone would chage with with the master opened up some. Didn't so much.
I'd still like to get my hands on a Trace Elliott GP12SMX pre. One day... One day...

Keep your bass man. If the EMG will fit the cavity give that a try. It's not going to be 100% Passive Pbass but may swing the options to your favor. Wire it up 18V and chooch.

Oh yeah... I have the basslines in the gecko. Wish I went EMG. Thought the same about trying to get Nordstrand to build a custom set for it to be passive and some grunt... Same. Same. Using other instruments and it has zero priority at the moment.
Wired them 18v so they do have some head room.

I quoted yours as well and typed a short diatribe. Not sure what happened when I hit post.

In short, my band takes all the sonic space and leaves me with sub lows. I understand the ampeg pre clip I just prefer a clean preamp and dirt coming from pedals. The only clipping I fear is from my power amp. 870 rms into an 800w cab when the amp is clipping makes me fear for the drivers.

You've tried boosting mid in positions 2 and 3?

Yeah the b2r, not same preamp but similar enough being modern ampeg, I had forever ago I had to pretty much crank the gain for any amount desirable tone.

Also why I dont want to get into the 1000s of watts territory, I run mostly old vintage cabs and speakers, Id start popping stuff real quick if pushed 1000 watts into my stuff. That being said when i get the VTA up and running, im gonna replace the BW in my folded with emi sigma pro, just to be safe.

that's a very good price. Every tube amp sale always says something about the amp being recently serviced, but I always take it to a tech and there's always something that needs fixing. So factor in $200 in repairs but still a good price.
