Cool, I was just checking you out on FB. Very tight, I love the 70's vibe I'm getting from it. When are you guys playing again and I mean in Ottawa? BTW, I've always been a sucker for instrumental doom/stoner bands. Keep it up.

Just checked them out, cool stuff. Sounds like a heavy version of indie rock to me (in a good way). Kind of an oddball comparison, maybe it's the vocals, but it sort of makes me think of a heavy version of the band We Are Scientists.

I'm excited for their new stuff. I've been listening to De Vermis Mysteriis A LOT lately, the more I listen the more I get into it.
That one definitely took the longest for me to latch on to, but now I really dig it.

I thought the last HOF record was a big step up from Snakes for the Divine - looking forward to the next one.

We're playing with HOF later this week (sunday) pretty excited for it. Hopefully they'll play some of this so called new material.

That's awesome. Saw they're playing Chicago 3 nights in a row... Wish we had 1/3 of that type of scene here so HoF would play here one night
Snakes for the Divine was a giant turd to me. I could never really get past the production quality. Sounded like I was listening to the album with ear muffs on.
Having some good email back and forth with a potential new guitarist. Saw his band on Friday and he's talented, ego-free and motivated. Also found out that my old drummer has left the doom band so his schedule is freed up a little. Hate to jinx it before it happens but all of the pieces seem to be falling into place. Feels good!
Yeah, that was the major sticking point for me too. I thought the songs were good (Bastard Samurai!), but that production was so weird - clean and sterile yet still somehow muffled. I'd take TAOSD or SBT-style Billy Anderson mud over that weirdness any day of the week.
This is good advice for anyone, even if they're not trying to understand what the new HOF will sound like.
I still don't get the Snakes recording hate that is all over the internet. If I were to say one of their albums was a subpar recording it would be Surrounded by Thieves. Snakes sounds A-ok to me.
Ill have to check out we are scientists. I kept thinking the voice was very tenor like jack white, and the music was like he dropped the blues licks and two strings and added another whammy and pog to the equation.
