Having some good email back and forth with a potential new guitarist. Saw his band on Friday and he's talented, ego-free and motivated. Also found out that my old drummer has left the doom band so his schedule is freed up a little. Hate to jinx it before it happens but all of the pieces seem to be falling into place. Feels good!

Hopefully it works out man, you could probably get a lot done a lot faster without all the baggage.

Ill have to check out we are scientists. I kept thinking the voice was very tenor like jack white, and the music was like he dropped the blues licks and two strings and added another whammy and pog to the equation.

I don't know that I'd necessarily recommend them, depending on your taste, it just reminded me lol. I only heard one album from them, which I think was their first one (or at least first big one) in 2005. They were kind of riding the tail end of that dance oriented indie rock wave. It's catchy if you're into the sound.

I really wish I bought that ampeg 8x6" now... Would have sat well with the dually and no doubt produced the dirty mids heavy sound I wanted from that cab and the v3.

Need a speakon to speakon cable to play the gk and Demeter setup into the dually so been kinda lazy. Undoubtedly I'll sell the gk and keep the Demeter pre, just seems like the better investment over time and I can utilize an awesome pre and recording DI through it.

And those are my Dano pedals per max's request. I also have a joyo octave fuzz, and a couple Russian muffs in Austin to fix and bring back. I want a hpf pre. I have a voodoo power thing and I want to power more pedals, can I daisy chain from one of those outputs? I don't want to buy another to power like two more pedals.

Yes, you can daisy chain as long as the pedals on that chain draw fewer milliamps of current than the outlet on the VooDoo Labs power supply is rated for. You do not want to exceed the rated amperage of the individual outlet.

So keen for this show. I missed HoF on their first De Vermis Mysteriis tour. Even missed Old Mate Matt Pike when he came down with Sleep, which I'm still cut about. Not mising out again. Last time I was HoF was at their Sydney Soundwave show. They played two songs and then the power went out on the stage. Took the rest of their allocated set time to fix the issue. By the end of it, they only played three songs and finished with Frost Hammer. Gutted.

Yeah, it was a pretty sour experience for an other wise great festival. The Sword played the same day earlier on. So keen to catch HoF properly this time around.

I felt that the new Dimension bass was a nice change from plain old jazz and precision.

I like the Dimension bass. That said, I like the single pickup versions better. For my purposes, the bridge pickup would be too close to the bridge on the two pickup models. I like I think it's the Modern Player version with the triple coil pickup like an Ibanez ATK, but passive.

I always just intended on get a jazz body made through warmoth, nothing against fender I just like to choose all of my options. Although i wanted Indian rosewood body the price that wood has like double in a year, last year my body was price at 320 I believe, this year the guy said 720!?

I'd like a Jazz body made by Warmoth, with the pickups in the Rickenbacker 4001 positions instead of the standard Fender Jazz positions.

Too expensive, and also there's only one place I like carpet, and it ain't on music gear.

I had one for a bit. I didn't need the extra features over the version 2. Always preferred the blend 100%wet and bite switch off. Would try the v2 one day but I'm not really in love with its basic flavor.
The Character knob was really cool I just felt like it's dirt was really generic and not touch sensitive enough for me.
Even into my IOD it just made the tone kinda lifeless and McD. Much preferred the Rusty Box for its very lively response and good flavor on its dirt.
Both needed more dirt into them but make for decent "clean" tone. (I don't like completely clean tone I need some mild overdrive and compression)

I like the Character knob set at about 10:30, between the "SVT" and "B-15" settings. I actually really like the dirt on the VT bass pedal, because it's kinda dry and not too fuzzy/mushy sounding. So it's a better approximation of my amp head's overdrive than most overdrive pedals, which I guess is kinda the point. I mainly use it when I'm not going to be able to play through my head. So mostly open mics so far.

I keep thinking that i want an amp sim pedal like the VT Bass, but then whenever i try one it just ends up making my rig sound worse. Maybe if i wasn't using other pedals it would be better.

I haven't tried mine with other pedals so far. Mainly because I tend to use my fuzz pedal quite sparingly.

Maybe bypassing the preamp in your amp would yield better results, can't really do that with the LH1000.

The speaker sim should be off if you're going through an actual preamp and bass guitar cab. Or at least, I prefer it that way.

I think I'm am now against the Hartke LH series now. Their are 3 blown up at a local shop. Pretty sure someone on here also had a problem with theirs.

The Hartke LH series just aren't really my cup of tea, due to the passive mids.

Home from MDF. Had a lot of fun. Met some great people and drank a lot of alcohol.

Got my first show with the EGC. Performed flawlessly and got a lot of attention from everyone who talked to me. Made friends with the sound guy before we checked, he hooked us up, apparently we were way louder than any other band that played despite using less amps than normal.

Our guitarist got a little too into it at the end of our set and. accidentally snapped the neck off his agile LP which sucked, but I guess made for a good show.

Overall pretty fun weekend.

Awesome. Any decent live footage of your set? And any that you can hear your bass in (I find camera mics have difficulty picking up even normally tuned bass)?

I didn't know your guitarist's Les Paul was an Agile. That's actually really cool. Hope it's fixable, or if not, that a replacement can be found quickly.

Speaking of G&L's here is Ed's review of their new P-bass. I know most of it wont be useful around here, but there is some pick style in there. I find it interesting, as he is using a F112, and from what I understand, plans to use that rig for his future reviews.

I've always enjoyed Ed's reviews/demos, even if they're of stuff that I wouldn't buy.

Why are there no handles? What is with this lack of handles on micro amps?

Proximity to bands that would use my services is another issue lol. If you need someone to mix it, hit me up. I rarely ever just mix anything, because mid level bands usually hire one person to do everything, but you can do a lot with mixing, if everything is tracked pretty well. It's kind of a harder racket to break into, since mixing engineers almost always start by working their way up recording, until they get to big enough clients that bring their mixes elsewhere decide to let you mix them. Then people start bringing you work that other people tracked to mix. Honestly, it's way easier for me to mix stuff I recorded, because I already know what's going to be done with it and I'm very clean and careful with my tracking, but I find the mixing to be much more mentally stimulating. That's why I joined that site for mixing contests, just a good way to keep my skills sharp.

How much are your rates for mixing/mastering?

Anybody in the market for a Rickenbacker bass needs to contact the following store: Dan's - 328 E New Circle Rd, Lexington, KY, US, 40505 - (859) 455-9858. They have a 4001 Marked at $800 but will go lower. I was passed along the info via Facebook and thought someone here could get a sick deal. It has been fitted with a Badass Bridge and needs a new Pickguard. It has no issues that I'm aware of. I was told that it's in good playing condition.

I play that mental game allot. Should I come into a sudden windfall I'm not sure I could blow it all on one thing. No matter how kickass that thing was. Too many areas in my rig could benefit from an incremental boost as opposed just getting one killer bass.
A whole bunch of mid-range stuff > one kickass thing.

I love how Alembics look, but I don't think that sound-wise they'd be my thing. If I was getting a custom bass, I'd probably go to EGC or Stambaugh.

$20/hr? shag this, I'm moving to the States. The cheapest rates I can find here for RECORDING ALONE is $65/hr :/
