Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I ordered an EHX Holy Grail to a/b and a+b with my Boss RV-2. I like the HG alone, but the RV-2 gives more atmosphere without sacrificing as much in the attack at the highest setting. And, unfortunately, the two aren't playing nicely together. Just spent almost three hours trying to get everyone to get along, but no. Both the longer hall settings sound nice individually, but when used together the reflections and echoes get overly metallic... and not in the sorta pleasing RV-3 way.

I had been messing with EQD Afterneath into the RV-2 and found a few nice settings. Would like to try their Ghost Echo for a bit tamer verb to stack with my RV-2. What I've heard of the Mr. Black Ambience pedal reminds me of the Afterneath so I'm considering that one, too. Any other verbs I should keep an eye out for? Would love to try an Iron Ether Nimbus, but $200+ is a bit outta my price range.

I use the Holy Grail Nano.

I like its simplicity, just a switch and a knob.

Never played through the Boss RV-2. From the looks of it, there's a "pre-EQ" knob, which I hate on reverb pedals. Way too many controls, really. I also prefer the EHX's type of footswitch, as well as the smaller footprint. The Boss unit looks a lot like the Digiverb I used to use.

I know Fuzzrocious makes a reverb pedal.

Dunwich was designing one as well, possibly for Magic Pedals.

Honestly the idea of stacking reverb pedals never occurred to me.

I do think the verb on the HG is nice by itself. I was just encouraged by stacking my gf's Afterneath into the RV-2 which sounded pretty good like they complimented each other. The RV-2 may have too many knobs for you (I keep it simple and just dime all the controls) but the Afterneath might be above my cut-off point. Six knobs is a too much for my brain. Took me a few hours just to get something I liked then I forgot to snap a pic of it so it was back to square one. That's why I have interest in the Ghost Echo and it's relatively simple three-knob layout. Would love to know more about a Dunwich designed reverb. Don't see anything on their page or the Magic Pedal page about it.

Not yet sure if stacking reverbs is a good idea yet. But I'm gonna keep giving it a shot.

The Afterneath is awesome but way too complicated for me.


What's the going rate for a Sunn Concert Lead?

supposed to get the mesa back on friday and i'm working out the details for the march 3rd show first friday show at the meditiation and detox center in phoenix, gonna just do the photos through mpix.com
gotta kinda refocus a little, i'm so sleep deprived that the multiple things i have going on right now really need to be more tightly scheduled with my limited amount of focus and energy

Its a supercool verb. As im fiddling around with my gf's more, im finding the drag knob can take it from a multiple echo thing to more of washy verb. The dampen also gives some versatility for a darker or brighter sound. It def takes some time to figure out but nice sounding enough to be worth the hassle.
