Deep Thought was commissioned to answer the "Ultimate Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything." The answer was 42. Then Deep Thought laid out the plans for an even bigger supercomputer which would give the "Ultimate Quesiton to LIfe, the Universe, and Everything."

However, moments before Earth was due to give its answer, it was destroyed by a Vogon work crew to make for a new interstellar bypass with only two humans escaping, Trish McMillan (aka Trillian) and Arthur Dent. At one point, Arthur and Ford Prefect end up on a prehistoric Earth where he has to pull scrabble tiles from a bag, and it's determined the Ultimate Question is "What is six times nine?"

(from memory, so I'm sorry if I got Trillian's Earth name incorrect)

You know, I was a 15's guy all my "bass playing life".... but now I'm a convert!

I Play two tiny sealed 1x12s at the Moment with eminence beta 12 lta whizzer cone Speakers. The cabs were intended as a small session stack to use at home and if I Need to take a cab or two to a session. due to certain circumstances my bands don't share a rehearsal space anymore and I had to use em with my stoner/Garage band til i got something bigger!

this rig is freaking loud with my 200w peavey session bass and it works soooo, soooo great with fuzz and od! Bass is a Thunderbird with chromes on it tuned to EADG so nothing Ultra low.

I decided to pull the Trigger and I am now building two identical 2x12s (sealed) with the beta lta's, each one switchable from 4 to 16 ohms so I can use it as an 2/8 ohms full stack or a each one as a single 4 ohm 212. yessss!

I find that filters are incredibly personal. My favorites for bass, in this order, are the DOD FX25B, MXR Bass a Envelope Filter, and 3Leaf Proton, with the Proton being my favorite thus far.

I would also recommend the Source Audio Bass Envelope Filter. It has plenty of options and types of filters if you're not sure what type of filter you'd like. I started there to find the options I liked, then used those criteria to get stand alone pedals.

missed out on the 1200s at caveman music, but the 300t is still there as of last night
the d180 cap job is still going down so i'm now a little bit hesitant to get rid of it after
the spending the cash to do all of this maintenance the last few months
it sounded way thicker and warmer the last time i used it before the fan went south and
the od kinda had this punch that was low mid focused and all punch

That band was a huge disappointment to me.

My D-180 has been a tank. Maybe some stuff is just wearing out on yours? What power tubes are you using, btw?

You'll hear more wah's than filters in the genre, but bassballs is probably the most common filter (see Atomic Bitchwax) followed by the Mutron. I personally like my VFE Mini-Mu which I had them mod slightly for bass, but the standard version works great for bass as well.

probably. my hesitation is that it lacks a volume/level control. i find modulation/delay/filters don't work well for bass applications in loud bands without being able to boost the signal when the pedal is engaged. of course you could always add it in a loop with a clean boost pedal but that's adding another 2 pedals to your board

I love 12s. I "accidentally " switched a couple of years ago when I was between rigs and a pair of 2x12s became available at a great price.
I loved that they seemed a little tighter, especially since I was down tuning more than usual
My main rig is a 4x12 now..when I play 10s or 15s at a backlined gig, it just doesn't feel right anymore. Funny how you get used to things :)

Right, I forgot about that little detail. Which is why I probably don't use mine much.
