i find them really interesting. enough prog and jazz to keep me engaged but they are damn heavy.

if you use spotify, you can stream the actual albums. Enfant Terrible, and funny enough the live album, Evil in Oslo are my current favs.
blew half a year's vinyl budget on them in one order
I don't much care for soloing, so I guess it's kinda wasted on me.
not sure if i shared this here, a relatively recent discovery for me and now one of my favorite bands.
like earthless but without the boredom.
Cool band. Have to check them out more.
I kinda agree about Earthless. Sometimes I'm in the mood for their stuff. I do have to say their new one is pretty great as it has actual songs and (gasp!) singing on it. Much less jamming hendrix or iommi licks for 15 minutes at a clip.

Earthless is kinda like Rush for me. Not their sound, but the fact that I can listen to a couple tunes at most in one go before I gotta put something else on.
The 3 piece I'm in moonlights as a funk/jazz/jam band for corporate events, etc. One thing I've noticed is that many times bands will jam on something without changing for too long and it gets stale/boring quick. Often I've seen a band that does that shift after shift of just endless repetitive jam that goes on too long. I know we've fallen in that abyss more than a few times, especially when coming up with new stuff.
Can work for a while if everyone's stoned, but definitely gets boring.

They are super talented and played here a couple nights ago. I can never make weekday shows.
Hey, everyone.. Used to be in a stoner metal band (Straighten the Crooked). Now I'm in a different band, but still love the stuff. Saw Sleep last week. Was a giant wall of sound.
Congratulations! I'm not a huge Ampeg guy (but as I think about it, I have 3 at the moment- so maybe I am?) but those SVT-IIs are really great amps. Nice choice!
I really love the production on this album, the bass is overdriven and manages to stay focused in the center of the music, with the guitar adding Daniel Ash-esque trippy sonics.

Would love to get recommendations for good doomy bands with good bass that doesn't get overpowered. I'm an old head, and I preferred something more abstract and artful like Skepticism or Esoteric or (early) MDB than something that's outright nostalgic Sabbath worship. I make exceptions for things that are very bass focused (like Candlemass)

Have you heard Bell Witch? Its all bass. Literally. A bass/drums duo. Funeral doom too, so its in the rough ballpark of mournful congregation.
Oh, and I also liked a band called Jupiterian, but I can't remember how thd bass was mixed. Very funeral doomy.
As for “Sabbath worship”, look into Orchid. Got into them about a year ago. Fantastic stuff.
