Been listening to the new CONAN album. Very aggressive. I dig it quite a bit. They do a really short almost grindcore-esque tune ("Paincantation"), their most melodic with "Amidst the Infinite" and spaciest (the closer, "Eternal Silent Legend") Don't worry, no one's going to confuse it for anyone but them. Overall, it is very much in their usual comfort zone. Nice to hear them edge a little out of their box.

All in all, another pissed off record about swinging axes and poopie. Recommended.

I saw a Small Stone showcase they did at SXSW years ago and it was really good. I dont know if Lo-Pan is still with them, but I dig that band.

Thanks for the reminder about the conan album. I forgot that was coming out! Checking it out now.

I hope so, the mk2s are alot cheaper but they made a ton of great changes on the mk3 so i decided to pony up the extra cash. Probably the attenuator alone is worth the difference.
Being a bassist transplanted to guitar is such a struggle because i want that bass tone but now i gotta try to fit my guitar sound around it. I care way more about the mix than i used to. Hopefully it leads to a better overall sound for the band.

I like them. Both my guitar players switched to the rockerverb. I had my doubts. One of the guys played a V4 (with various dirt pedals in front) and I didnt think I could like a tone more. The rockerverb sounds great. Different than the V4 but it maintains a brutal low presence in the mix. Their trick is to drive the volume and back off the attenuator to get a thick, amazing sounding, break-up.

Glad to hear that. Does he run dirt pedals in front of it still? How does it handle them

They both run the amp distortion with some tweakable dirt in front (obviously set more mildly than they would in front of a clean platform). Sounds amazing to my ear. I have heard them both swap multiple dirt pedals in front of the distortion channel and, with rare exception, can the pedals not be tweaked to dial-in/enhance the overall distorted/fuzzed tone. One guy put my blower box in the channel at the end of practice last night, and with almost no tweaking, it sounded sick; briefly adjusted, it sounded even better. Other guitfiddler also swapped in a way huge somethin or another, dropped the bass on his eq a touch and bumped the mids a hair, and also, thick and gnarly, but not too gnarly. I think they are versatile amps that can make a lot of different pedals work. Both guitar players run their non-dirt effects through the loop. everything has been pretty gravy since they made the switch ot Orange.

Awesome. There was nowhere around here to try one and youve made me feel less bad about dropping 1500 on a amp ive never heard in person.

I like them a lot. Very comfortable, two different filters (maybe 3 now, but don't quote me on that), and they do a great job of reducing sound levels without muffling the sound. AND they give you a third plug for free in each set, all for around $20.

Best earplugs I've used, hands down.

Hi heavies.

I'm seeking advice on filling things out behind a guitar solo.

Ideal solution wouldn't involve more od/dist/fuzz because in my experience that often makes the ass/mids drop out depending on the levels, EQ, venue PA, sound staff, etc. Too touchy to set reliably, but mind's open so ... Whaddya suggest?

Mild chorus, detune effect, Fishman Powerchord pedal, busier bass lines, or ...?

What are you doing now to fill the space? I always like heavier dirt in spaces where my guitarists might not have such heavy dirt or are leaving me plenty of sonic space in the song.
