Steve Austin took the time to write a very long and detailed and informative answer about his rig and how he uses it, that was very kind of him!Yeah after all I see he always answers his fans' comments so maybe I can give a try

I will not copy-paste (it would not be polite) but if anyone is interested, he doesn't use any pedal (this thing amazes me). All the distortion comes just from his Mesa head with tons of gain.

Yeah a purpose built recorder is a good idea. The practice recordings I did with my phone works well for getting riffs, etc. so you don't forget them. @rutrho I never bought or used an external mic, just the one built into my phone. The few times when volume was an issue, I just put the mic facing down on the surface the phone was on. Seemed to work well.
I have been amazed at how much recording tech for the masses has advanced in even the last decade. Not gonna lie though, I kinda want a 4 track to mess with for practice and demos.
Ive been looking at the mr black shepards end for awhile. It does some pretty twisted sounding flanging.
Just thought I'd share this tidbit. I had been playing some LaBella flats on my jazz. We tune to C standard. I found that even though these were really high tension strings, they are still fairly floppy at C standard.
I just got some LaBella low tension flats - I got the 5 string set and chucked the highest string. Since C standard is close enough to BEAD the tension is 'normal'. I was finding the new tube amp picked up more of those clicky flubby loose string sounds. Especially since I play pretty hard. The low C is way tighter sounding now.
In other news, Michigan is officially a 'green' state. I've never really been into the stuff but am glad it passed. Personal liberty and all that.

Yeah thats kind of what has me unsure about it. Though i could put it in my stereo effects loop and run it stereo which ive been loving with the avalanche run and the kma horizont i gotThat one is too complicated for me, I like to keep it simple and ignorant
I've been meaning to try the Labella B set low tensions for C. They should be around 40-45 lbs of tension in C which is pretty good. Glad that they work well, didn't want to drop 60 bucks on them and hate them.
I'm going to be getting a Lakland P bass w/Geezer pickups and throw those on. Should be spicy.
Give the stock pickups a good try. They are very meaty and warm. I really like their P and PJ designs.
So there are a pair of guitarists with whom I've been jamming. It was a total craigslist find and it is amazing how good they both are. Finding a drummer who is a good fit has been challenging. We are hoping to find someone who can play traditional heavy drums, do some simple odd time stuff, and is capable of playing blast beats.
One of the guitarist invited a guy down tonight who said several things to make us think he might be a good fit. The only hang up was the guy just moved to CO and had doesn't yet have a kit. While a bummer, it happens. A drummer can keep up with just a practice pad pretty easily, and I have a beater kit so it was a moot point. I kid you not, I would not be surprised if I learned this was his first time behind a kit. He was terrible! I have more business playing drums and I'm a terrible drummer. He couldn't even keep a simple beat in time. For the sake of him driving to my house (and he was 30 min late), we tried a few ideas and they all straight failed.
After the second attempt, one of the guitarists was like "yeah, I think we are just looking for someone who has been playing a while, whose proficiency on their instrument matches ours." The guy just sat there, so I asked him to play his favorite beat. He started telling me to play a "blues in the box." While I'm usually happy to indulge, I was thinking sure, but we want to hear what you can do. I kid you not, he didn't even play a beat. I told him he's just not what we are looking for in a drummer.
The guy then asks if we can just jam so one of the guitarists starts playing Voodoo Child. The guy was lost the entire time. The up side is the guy wasn't even at my house for 25 min. The down side is he at my house for 25 min.

I'm buying the bass from a friend locally, the Geezers are already installed and I like them.
@br1qbat me too, but glad it did pass. I'm hopeful, but doubtful it will help fund the roads and schools. Still baffles me the city was willing to fund LCA but not have enough for their schools...espec especwith how much the Illich's make.
