It isn't. That isn't one of the worn out sun\tobacco burst styles. I love a good black, red or blue burst. The old natural to black burst is so tired. Especially with a white or tort PG
5 string Rick wearing Chromes biamped: 1) Rick-O-Sound to board, mixed down to mono on the board to an SVT/Marshall VBC 412 2) pre-fx DI tap from the bridge reamped on an SVT/810.
Board includes B3K, Earthbound Audio Beast, EHX Superego, Pigtronix Echolution. Markbass Compressore is always on on the neck pickup, EHX Steel Leather is always on on the bridge.
Not sure what all plugins were used but there was an outboard Distressor for sure.
Oddly enough, women are extremely receptive to the smell of Old Spice. Yes, I do own some and yes, it's the only aftershave I occasionally bother with and I always get a positive comment from an attractive woman about it.
GK works for everything! I too, am a GK fan. But I stick with my Ibby’s. Also sideburns...

Honestly, mostly the former, and I don't care. When you're 43 and grey, it's quite a thrill. At this point, any attention is good attention.

Yeah that modded sx is badass looking. Are those tv Jones? I've always wondered how they compare to a p pup. Oh and that black top is sick. I've been thinking about building one.
Fender Fidelitrons from their Cabronita bass, which are the Fender version of the Gretsch that the TV Jones pups emulate. Someday I’ll finish the rewiring with new parts and full shielding, it’s a little sketchy sounding.
@gfen, what's your take on the p-pup in the bridge position? I really want to try hear what it sounds like.
I never met a Jazz Bass that I liked until I had one with two splits.
Just the neck side, it's a Precision bass.
Both on full, it's like a thick, heavy, hammer-of-God kind of thing.
Back the neck off a bit, it's kinda trebly, kinda twangy. I don't want to say "like a Rick" coz I have no first hand experience, but it's got that sort of clangy sound.
Roll the neck down to naught, and it's modern and zippy and still full (at least on the BTJ with the Model Ps).
There is a difference in where they're placed on the two versions I have, the BTJ has them with the centerline of the split wher ethe center line of a j pickup would go, the Mockingbird has 'em in teh "proper" Precision placement and very nearly right up on the bridge. I'm entirely happy with the BTJ, prior to that I would've considered reverse splits in both positions but I don't think there' enough space to have a reverse and normal layout next to each other, it's gotta be both the same direction.
Plus you can make sassy comments about having a Precision Bass with flats/and or tort and show something that's totally not a Precision Bass.
Any of you ever had to tune UP for a band? My guitarist likes weird tunings lately, and he’s tuned his 6 string guitar to a low B and dropped the other strings a step and a half. Since I own a 5er, I ended up just keeping the B on that and tuning the other strings higher to match his tuning. Definitely feels different, more tension for sure. And surprisingly, seems to hit my filter differently as well. Will it hurt anything long term?
It's like saying "please excuse me while I put on my fedora" and then putting on a pork pie hat.
I do anything possible to not change tunings. If it means I have to do some stretching, or parts that aren't exactly doubled, I think that's to the advantage of my dexterity and the music.
Vektor tunes everything up half a step. You're tuning up 2 1/2 steps... seems extreme to me. It may or may not cause some issues. Certainly I think you'd need to adjust the truss, and consider using lighter gauge strings.
