Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Hah! I was gonna suggest any solid body Epiphone with P90's, because that's what I gravitate to. (Yes, I like feedback, why do you ask?)

However, I can't argue with your solution or the reasons behind it!

That said, my guitar rack is sillier than yours. This is the group that I grab without fear of scratching them.

This combines the Boss Blues Driver and the JHS Angry Charlie circuit into one box and lets you run them separately, in series or in parallel. Anyone that has stacked fuzzes, OD and/ or distortion pedals knows what kind of amazing results can be had with some time, patience and imagination. This pedal takes two iconic OD circuits and gives you the tools to intertwine them in any way you choose. You can get a treble-ly grind, ala Motorhead or a deep, doomy sludge fest ala [insert your favorite doom bassist here].

To start down the doom path with this pedal:
JHS level: mid-point (50%)
JHS tone: completely counter clockwise (0%)
JHS drive: completely clockwise (100%)

JHS level: (30%)
JHS tone: completely counter clockwise (0%)
JHS drive: mid-point (50%) and higher, depending on taste and want/ need for more grit

I'll be experimenting with combining this awesome combopedal with other OD & Fuzz pedals to see what other sonic treasures I can unlock :cool:

A guitarist friend uses that pedal in a free-jazz context, of all things, and it sounds killer.

I actually just changed out the humbuckers in one of my charvel les paul knockoffs with a bareknuckle hsp90 stockholm. P90 in a humbucker housing. It brings the thunder. I was expecting a morr jangly bright sound than the duncan jb1 in my other guitar but its quite the opposite the p90 is way more low mid and bassy. Good complimentary tones.

That's another one on my list to try. Good to hear it's worth checking out. I like the sounds I hear on vids for a lot of JHS' products, but their owner feels very sketchy. Especially all the BS from years back. Met him a couple times and man something was off...

To add to the schecter, check out the Charvel desolution single cut LP style guitars. Find em for steals at GC. I'm not sure which tier mine was, nevermind found an example. Absolute steal for the price. I paid $250 for mine. Awesome oiled neck, locking tuners and great sound.

First maja gear acquisition in about 2 years!

My second Ibanez 2404. Sold my first 2404 in winter 16/17. Acquired this one as part of a trade.

Needs some TLC, but overall good condition save for a couple dings and cracks in the finish.

Not intending on keeping long term, but I’ll enjoy it for a bit before flipping.
