My mod preference is definitely a flanger. I’ve always thought chorus sounded a little 80s and cheesy but I like it set low and slow with some sort now. Phasers are meh I like them on guitar quite a bit though. Probably from listening to too much tool as a kid now I like flangers.

Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I saw Om a few years ago at some hole in the wall in Louisville. Watter was the opener. There might have been 100 people total at the show. Pretty wild considering. Saw Sleep in Nashville on the first three or four show run they did since getting the band back together, lol. Saw them and Wovenhand in Nashville this year as well. I can’t imagine this tour not being epic on multiple levels.
Trust me I've thought the same sort of thing. I'm already taking more than a week off for this, and I'll be coming from Colorado. At some point I have to be an adult and draw the line...unfortunately.
But I only have my Sansamp GT2 and Proco Turbo Rat!

At one time, I wondered, "Will this ever actually happen?" Now, I hear reports and see pictures that make me believe that it actually will. One might think that news of this type would make a man steeled in his reserve with knowledge that the thing he desired may one day become true. Alas, such evidence is not actually a soothing communication, for it causes my blood to boil with a passion and urgency that is not easy to bear. When I close my eyes and imagine, I can feel and taste the fuzzzzzz and thump it could bring. Your endeavors are appreciated, and I await any other updates on your progress with greatest enthusiasm.

In other news, I was involved in a first practice for what was supposed to be a "slow, heavy, metal band". We jammed, and it was mostly really an amazingly slow, heavy pop band somewhere between the Melvins and the Jesus and Mary Chain. Not what I was thinking of when it was described to me, but I'm at least a fourth of how it ended up where it did, and I enjoyed myself. So, I can't complain one bit. I'll probably try to write something for these folks that's less poppy soon. But considering the company I'm keeping, it's probably going to still be pretty poppy and will verge into noise before anything I'd really consider doom. But, I've been surprised before. It's a pretty happy place, either way.

Great band, a lot of riffs remind me of Mayhem's Chimera. Do you know any similar black metal bands?
Similar in what sense? I'm not very familiar with Mayhem (other than the crazy stories surrounding them).
I'd have to give this some thought. Off the top of my head here's some potential candidates (at least for the riffing...bass tone is a tough one in black metal, IME):
I'm not into a lot of stuff by them, but most on these 3 albums are great in my opinion:

Speaking of Mayhem and black metal, I have been listening to ALL of the black metal in my iPod in alphabetical order by song (yes, I’m strange, but whatever). It’s exactly 1112 songs. I have to say, those Mayhem albums are also my favorite. Nicely experimental. Their newest album just released, and on a break from my car iPod list, I listened to it in my basement. Disappointing. Not a bad black metal album by any stretch, but not at all experimental to me. Perhaps I’ll have to listen again, but it struck me as rather vanilla black metal. Still well executed and all, but not what I had hoped from for Mayhem.
Just listened it for the first time and i agree, kind of uninspired compared to those 3 albums. Some basslines don't fit with the rest of instruments and there is no memorable moment. Having memorable moments is too high of a bar, but those 3 albums are full of them. But it is enjoyable
