Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I am using Reason 10, EZ Drummer 2, and have an Audient iD14 interface. Past that, everything is bass, guitar, amps, pedals, and a small midi keyboard for synth and trigger stuff. It’s not expensive per se, but I can get really good tone and mix with it. I haven’t bought any other plugins past what Reason has for free and the EZDrummer. It’s pretty much just me doing the work on everything, so I’m lacking there, but everything else seems to work well. Lol

I'm mostly interested in using a wah like Zappa. I have no illusions about being funky. Getting the combination of wah and fuzz in one seems sweet but that Chancellor thing is something I should also check out.

Did you end up pulling the trigger on the Burton Fuzz Wah? I had one for a while and my recollection was that the fuzz ripped but still cut too much lows.

I didn't. I'm going to wait and read more about that Chancellor wah. (I'm not even sure if it's been released yet...)

The Throat Locust is my favorite HM-2 thus far. Soooo good. Thinking maybe a BYOC Swede, Behringer (I mean, for $25, why not?), and a TC Eyemaster. I think that would make at least 7 HM-2 varieties in my collection.

Noice! I hadn't heard of the Eyemaster, I may have to look into that. The Throat Locust is pretty great, I do wish it had a bit more solid lows though. I dropped Earthbound a message asking if they'd be into modding it with a low passed clean blend a la the MBD1 but I haven't heard back.

So the guitarist put together a clip to use to promote on n social media but I wanted to share it here as well. This one in particular is very High On Fire, but the whole album, once we're done, will have a bit of sludge, thrash, doom, and stoner all rolled into what will probably be an EP.

I'd be ever so grateful if y'all take a gander, criticism is good too!

I have thought the same. Keep me posted if they will mod it. I love their Iron Pig (Rat clone). And the clean blend makes that pedal, along with the attack knob.

So, I'm neck deep in a very messy divorce. I haven't played in 2 years and I haven't seen any of this gear in 8 months.
I need to write down what I want for the lawyers. I want to start playing again but I don't really know what to fight for on this list.
I'm tempted to let it be sold and just buy a new rig, anything that I'd regret not having?

That's a question you'll have to answer for yourself but realistically you are going to have a very difficult time finding quality replacements for the Peavey T-40, Peavey Classic 400, & the Epiphone Ripper. The other amps and the pedals are pretty replaceable. I am not super familiar with the Peavey G bass or the Westone but I know that the Ripper & T-40 are becoming much more difficult to find in good condition.

I hope I'm wrong, but doesn't "letting it be sold" mean a junk store or pawn shop (or similar) gets it cheap and you end up with no money to speak of? Please make sure you end up with either enough money or (some of) your own gear. I do see why you'd rather make a fresh start.

So, last night at our gig, I was running my modded Big Muff through my twin SVT's & 810's when my tort pickguard came flying off of my Pbass! It hit a guy that looked like Jaco in the eye and the audience cleared the floor. We quickly regrouped and decided to play Gimme Three Steps to get the crowd back on the dance floor. That saved the gig and the night... but not the Jaco dude's eye. He'll be half blind for the rest of his days. The end.
