Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Can you explain the Cat5e boxes? Just a fancy TRS box? Not sure I get it.
Just a breakout box to reduce clutter. The idea is that I'll run four expression pedals (well, two dual expression pedals, actually) on one side, and four expression-capable pedals on the other (HOG2, Superego+, Horizont phaser, and a future synth pedal or multi-FX perhaps), connecting the lot of them with just one cable to keep things tidy, mobile, and a bit more modular (very easy to route which expression pedal controls which effect pedal)

VCR is in. Sounds great and makes for fun knob-tweaking, but probably not all that practical from a bass perspective. I'd definitely use the chorus function live, but this will likely fall in the "noodle around with it for a while and flip it" category.

Current build...

If I may, a small gripe. Man, are basses expensive in the classifieds here. I know the gear is high quality, but, damn, everything is a grand or more.

I'm sure a big part of that is that it's easier and less costly to the seller to unload cheaper low/mid-priced basses locally. No dealing with shipping, PayPal fees, insurance, etc. and the sub-$500 market is the majority of the market anyway. On the flip-side, selling a $1K bass on craigslist or your local facebook group can be a fools errand if you don't live in an area with a good music scene or a large number of people.

I honestly do the same with pedals a lot of the time. I can easily unload pedals from Boss, MXR, TC, etc. locally without much hassle. If I'm selling more expensive or boutique stuff, I just list it here where people know what the hell it is and what its worth...

it sounds easy but a gool LPF can be tricky. you'll find getting a smooth taper can be challenging.

Good point, I plan to do it passive like on a bass. I know that the pickups impact the center point and slope, but whew you're right. My Jazz used a .033uF and it worked great with the POG, so I'm thinking about doing a rotary switch with 4-6 caps. See if that'll have the sweet spot.

But yeah, hope it's not the crapshoot it can be.

I figured some of you heathens might be entertained by this. Didn't realize there were a bunch of hip-hop remixes of this video until me and a dude I work with threw this together & a buddy put the video together. Anyway, the original video is insanely entertaining and ridiculous if you need to google it for context...
