Also apropos of nothing, I found out I like running the EB-0L with the bass vol and tone at 8. Let's me use the normal/passive amp input instead of the active one, which seems to have a negative impact on the tone.

Pardon my ignorance, but that's the two pickup version right? Are both pickups considered "mudbuckers?"

I think the bridge pickup is considered a mini humbucker, but I don't know that much about gibson basses.

I’m pretty sure the EB3’s bridge pickup is a guitar mini humbucker. Or at least I’ve seen used as replacements for them.

Nope. The "0" means its got just the neck mudbucker. The "L" is longscale, which they made for a few years. The EB-3 had the two pickups, the mudbucker [30k ohm] and a mini humbucker bridge pup [7.5k ish ohms]

I've entertained the idea of sticking a rickenbacker hb-1 [pups in the 4004 basses] humbucker in the RIC bridge location, but I'm kinda torn about having a 50yo bass routed... I don't see myself getting rid of it ever, but it seems a little... wrong. But damn that would be all my bass GAS in one bass.

Also the Gibson minibucker is similar in shape to their guitar minibucker, but only has 4 poles instead of 6.

Was gonna say I could fab up a body copy for ya...then I remembered the set neck hahaha. Bodies are easy, necks not so much.

I may take you up on that someday. I have an old Peavey Patriot neck I love, but it needs to have a ski jump sanded out [and then refretted]. Would be super cool to use that with a body with 2 RIC pickups. . .

Wow yeah that would be rad. Those were good basses, always had good necks. I've done very little work on necks, but my cousin has built a few from scratch.

Those Ric pickups are great. Never realized how huge the magnet on the bridge pickup was and it has such a huge sound!
