Good to know, kinda got the itch to try one. See if it can unseat my current amp.
I got a serious problem with pedals. Just moved one I had less than a month and wanted to keep. But I ended up flipping to find others. Funny enough I know I'm gonna get another one somewhere down the road, it was a ton of fun. Just bought 3 to specifically flip, well 2 of em. And I got 4 others on the block as well.
Gonna try to pick up the Ron Swanson Fuzz. Others on the radar: Black Ash, French Toast, Guv'nor, and a Rat.
Seymour Duncan's Fooz looks real bad ass.
Anyone try the empress Zoia? Been wanting to mess with euro racks and this seems like a damn good place to dive in.

Fwiw the 300 watts of the old GK800RB is really comparable to the Quilter's 800 watts. Yes, I understand wattage and volume, etc. I get just a little more clarity at the same volume with the Quilter. The GK has more aggressive upper mids. The Quilter is going to give you a clearer low end.
I've always wondered that about the lead sleds wattage. A lot of peavey's are loud as hell at 200. I always thought it was the transformer, I wonder if voicing has some impact too. The mids of the RB's is what has got me curious since I always run mid heavy.
Having the 2 mids controls on the GK are great. That's the amp's strength, imo
How do you usually run them? In my current project I go with a more scooped sound, but I bump the high mids a bit.

I've listened to the first two minutes twice now. That bass part with the long rests is so cool. I'm gonna remember that and steal it someday.

Hehehe, you can say that, you can even believe it is true, but then you go and provide an obvious masterful jam. I think the person protests too much to be believed.

Yeah, the power of knowing when to not play is something I haven't grasped well in my own composition. I'll do the convenient thing, and steal, as well. Then play all the time like a squirrel on meth on the next song to atone for it.
When I used the GK I'd usually start at noon with the four [highs-upperr mids-lower mids-lows] I ran it more of a frowny face. I used it most often with a jazz or pbass.
All bets are off with the Gibson EB-0L, it is all lows and mids. So that got weird with the GK. Bass rolled back, mids a touch back and highs up [not that the pickup puts out any highs]
Oddly enough, the Quilter has no mids knob and i actually run that one with a touch of scoop and a touch of bass cut with the Gibson, and a heckuva lot of bass boosted and no scoop with any other bass.
Funny too, I bought a cheap EQ pedal. Worked fine, but I bought it to shape the EB-0L tone a bit. Didn't do anything useful for that bass. When I said the EB-0 puts out no treble, I mean it literally, every slider over 1k did absolutely nothing. All of the signal was at 1k or below.

So uh I may have picked up a guitar...
I wanted to get the purple EC-256 because I kinda wanted a guitar mostly to noodle with but also as a nice complementary tool for some of my music. I do have my sister's cherry red budget Fernandes strat that was stickerbombed (stickers included with some Guitar Hero set), strung with ten year old strings, never set up by a pro, so I felt like that one didn't quite count for a guitar I actually wanted to use.
I figured I should take a look at used market to save some cash instead of buying new though, and so I spotted this beauty priced at €600 (retail price €1000) and subsequently spent about €150 more than I originally intended. It plays like a dream and it sounds beautiful! Unfortunately I am the one playing, and unlike the instrument, I do neither of the two. Attached is my poor imitation of Colour Haze (was listening to them earlier today, splendid band that I could stand to write a few paragraphs about but won't because I need to go to hit both shower and sack) as a quick demo, since you people are into that kind of stuff.
Anyone got some good resources on guitar for bassists?

listened to it on the commute today and wow it slaps! Stoked to see what's coming up on the album
I had the lowest tier of that guitar. Even that one was pretty good. No complaints here, and it would have made a great mod platform.
I had a charvel LP like that one, loved it. Nice pick up!

My band is a bit of a jam band in a sense, but really I think we just all meshed well. We never pushed ourselves as such, but we always ended up doing something every show.
