Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

For the first time in my life I'm listening to Stoner music. Why? Some guys in my area are starting a Stoner band, and they sound like they might be fun, so I thought what the heck, and I just applied.

So I may end up a legit member of this thread. Hold your breath! :laugh:
I guess the line is obscured between stoner and doom but there are no bigger stoners than Sleep. When I think of stoner rock: Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Nebula, Sleep and many of the ones you listed come to mind. Check out the first album by Witch, Jay Mascis on drums, great stoner rock album.

The first Witch album is one of my all time favorite albums. Remember the good old days when you go into the record store and they had those 6 or 12 cds you could try out with the headphones and that crappy working built-in cd player? Thats how I discovered a lot of new music. Kudos to the record store employees because I think it was their discretion as to what albums were showcased.

It's a beaut Clark. It's a beaut.

Graveyards older stuff is wicked good. Red Fang and blues pills are soo good. Check out long distance trip. Love that album!

Bummer, at least it wasn't all of em.

Just now seeing this. Sorry, @kleingeld, but I’m glad you got things figured out. If nothing else you know what’s up now with the cab and can get it back to running on all cylinders. Def a win overall!

No worries. I figure for the price of a tech to sit it down, look it all over, and diagnose what's wrong would be plenty enough as is. I can replace the speaker no problem, and for not much more than the tech's diagnostics. Plus, then I'd have to pay for the speaker on top of it. Overall, more a pain than a real problem, but I'll take it. Been selling gear lately anyway, so I have the cash handy to pay too.

I'll be shocked to see how this sounds on all cylinders. It's plenty loud as is, and this noise has been getting worse for months. Who knows how long it's been limping along?

I had a bass lesson via Zoom with a hero of mine Monday. Been running exercises and pieces of a song he showed me on the daily. It’s helping already, but I forgot how little I actually practiced and how much more I needed to.
Yeah, it's been a goal of mine for months to get back into a practice schedule and IMPROVE. I've done wonders with my guitar skills by going back to basics, but without people to jam with, it's hard to stay motivated. Also, every time I decide to play my bass and get to doing some work, I find an issue with my rig. Like that speaker from the other day!

there are imposters in this thread? I'm shocked! Shocked! :jawdrop:
:ninja::whistle:

In other news! I finally got my six string! I tuned it EADGCF for now, and it's floppy until the new strings arrive and might need a bit of a set up, but I like it!

Oh I had put my eyes on that Gretsch a few days ago! But in the end I am lusting for a Danelectro 56... Same scale lenght, and I have seen a few people on YT using it as a Bass VI. Sounds awesome both ways.
DAT TONE :yawn:
How low can one go with a Bass VI?

*Hollow laughter, enhanced by a Delay & an Octaver*
:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

yeah, for me it was a toss up between the dano and gretsch and I dislike the owner of dano more than the owner of gretsch :D
