Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Scientist make some of the best Dub out there, but my fave is probably Prince Jammy. For the electronic based dubby stuff, I really like Ekoplekz.

I need a little help from fellow stoners...
I sold my Peavey 410TVX last week and need a new cab.
Options:
Ampeg SVT 410HLF(used, Vietnam made) - 500€
Ampeg Heritage SVT 410HLF(new, made in USA) - around 900€
Mesa Boogie Powerhouse 410(used) - around 700€
Other gear - Thunderbird Classic(Epiphone), Peavey Tour700
Had a chance to play on the classic SVT 410HLF with my bass+head and it sounded great, was wondering if the Heritage cab would still sound "better" with overdriven/distorted sounds. The Powerhouse I once played but with a P bass and a Mesa head(not my gear) so can't compare it to the Ampeg.
If anyone can, please share some insights. What would you buy?

i'd avoild the HLF cabs unless you want a very bass heavy sound with little mids and top end.
For something that's largely a collectible I wouldn't want to overhaul the electronics.
I played one briefly and it was hard to form an opinion about it because the pickup covers were so distracting.
Did you play a SVT410HLF? The Vietnam made models are not as boomy and mid scooped as the older US versions.
I played on them a few times and mostly the tone(and lows, I'm tuned in C) were the best I had on most stages, even better than a SVT810. It concerns me a bit how it will perform in my rehearsal room as it's not a big space.
The plan is to have an additional 115 or 215 with another head, a dual amp setup.

I'm now getting into Stoner music, meaning I run into the world of downtuning. 
So if we cover a song by a band that tunes to C, that means if they play an E it'll sound a C. Meaning, as we tune to D, if we play that same E, it'll sound a D.

I should be frank. In the above post, I've used the word "we" a bit tentatively, as I'm not really in a band.
The "band" right now is two guitarists who've gotten together once and verified they can cooperate. They then placed an ad for a singer, keyist, drummer, and bassist. I responded, and am now in e-mail contact with one of them. The other is in the military, and away on training for two months to come.
So I'm not in a band, and there isn't yet one. But so far, I have a good feeling about it, and I'm diving into Stoner music.

It's good to hear that you're falling into the deep dark hole of Doom. I've really only been listening to Doom and Stoner stuff for almost two years but it feels like I've been listening my whole life. There's even times where I'll tell myself "maybe I should listen to/ play something different for like a week" and about two days will pass and I'll start longing for the lumbering fuzz and warmth of a doom tune. Don't get me wrong I still need musical variety but I'm never away from doom for that long.
Also thought you guys may like this. I'm sure some of you follow Beholdentotheriff on youtube, but just in case... This is one of my favorite Om songs and he breaks it pretty much note by note. His most recent vid was Orchard by Windhand
He does cool stuff. I remember his Supernaut lesson video was also top notch!
i have always wondered if Al has any idea where the 1 is or if he simply doesn't care. i find his basslines so awkward...he seems like an awkward dude so I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised.
I get the impression he does his own thing and doesn't care at all what anyone else thinks. Of course I'm basing that purely on speculation and no first-hand experience with him. Though I don't really know much about him, and have never met him, I bet he's a fascinating dude. Like, I think he used to be a chess teacher. I'd love to know what he thinks about the Bongcloud Opening (1. e4 e5 2. Ke2)
I've tried to meet him a couple times. He's very reclusive. I've played a few festivals with Sleep and he's right in the dressing room before and after his set. I once walked over to him at a bar after a sabbath show, and introduced myself and told him I was a big fan. And he just said thanks and left. Haha. I love it. Matt will shoot the poopie, but seeing Al off stage is like spotting an albino alligator.
