Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

@lucas303, I just saw that release. Looks awesome, great name too. Is it a pitch shifting reverb?

Yeah I've wanted to try hilbish stuff for some time too. Rad design, dope looking amps, and cool concepts.

I think the Red Fang pre is based on a model T. Love the looks on that even more, reminds me of NES and Pinball Pete's.

How's life in the Netherlands? (Forgive my ignorance if I should've capitalized "the")
I think only bands care about having the 'the' capitalised or not :)

But I'm not @instrumentalist , but here we have numbers on the rise, the British variant on the rise, a lockdown and since yesterday also a curfew. Luckily, the postal service survived the super busy Christmas period and they stopped losing my packages :D

Basically, @Deleted member 132197 summed it up. We're generally consensus oriented, and so far our disagreements don't blow up too badly.
Myself, I'm doing well under the circumstances. Kept my job, kept my optimism, am surrounded by people I love. Didn't keep my band but if this Stoner thingy comes to anything that'll be another reason for being happy. (But will I be able to sing this depressing music then?)

hence the singing about wizards :D

Talking about that (and totally unrelated to bass), I'm rewatching the LOTR trilogy and how on earth did Rohan even trust Wormtongue??!!! I mean look at him. It's clear he's evil! And it's even in his name! They deserve everything that happens to them.

In the books he's far more subtle and nuanced.

In fact, I find most everything more subtle and nuanced in the book series than in the film series. To me the books are so much more classic and memorable. I'm especially fond of how Tolkien can precisely define a character just by letting them talk.

Heh, for instance, no Dwarf tossing jokes. I enjoyed the movies a lot, but they all have a few cringe-worthy moments. The books have none, as far as I can recall.

Ugh, don't get me started on those movies. I'm a Tolkien nerd (in the middle of re-re-re-reading The Silmarillion right now, coincidentally) and I have stronger feelings about the Peter Jackson movies than I do about most issues that make the headlines in the news. When all is said and done I would've much rather seen Ralph Bakshi finish his version.

Selling or not selling the Whammy Ricochet?

I'm not using it and I already have 2 pitchshifters, although using them as octavers... But I don't know. I haven't found a way yet to use it in a way I like.
When I started this band I was in the mood of making something a lot more weird/playful but we slipped into the dark side very soon... I can't see that kind of toyish sound working in this context anymore. :atoz:
