I wouldn't agree with this. I think these guys are perfectionists, and they're not going to rush things. Al, at least, seems like the type who doesn't force the creative process. We're going on nine years since the latest Om studio album (and I know he's got new material in the works so it's not like he's just resting on the existing catalog). And then if you look at High on Fire there have been several years between each of their last few studio albums.
My armchair analysis was/is that Al is the perfectionist and probably wanted to focus on a new Om record. I would guess he didn't feel he could completely focus on more than one band at a time. Matt is a workaholic in comparison, he was on the road just about constantly for several years, etc.
To be fair about this, the "new" version of The Clarity is hardly different at all, at least whatever I heard on itunes was hardly any different, just sounded like more reverb in the vocals. So that was a little disappointing...
level for a long time, and I think they'll put out more new music for Sleep eventually. But like Lucas said who really knows?
Matt Pike, in interviews, basically has made it sound like the initial reunion and run of shows were done without a plan of completely reactivating the band. Basically a victory lap and money in the bank. Remember, these guys played to practically no one in their initial run in the 90s. That being said I'm not really upset about it either. I kind of wish I didn't already have the two singles on vinyl so I could buy the new combined version because the cover art is so cool. The sleeves for the separate singles are either just black or clear. They do have some pretty sweet etchings on the vinyl though lol. They're just playin the merch game it seems ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't get the impression that Al and Matt are done with each other though, I think I agree with @br1qbat/@lucas303 in that they're all perfectionists. They have been making music at a "high"

Most of those pedals I either own, have owned, or want to own. And all of those that meet those criteria have been quality.
Their vocals are a bit too far on the screechy side of things for what I want to hear in doom music. Same for Weedeater. I don't dislike that style of vocals in general, it just doesn't mesh with the rest of the music IMO. That said, I like it other than the vocals.
150$ is a great deal!
