Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Hard to get a pic in basement, but here she is. Palatino VE550 or 500. Bought as a scratch n’ dent with a busted tuner from MF for $142. Neck joint has been reglued a couple times, tailpiece replaced with cable, LaBella black nylon tapes from the TB DB classifieds.
@Deleted member 132197 - boom-boom, 1-5 with a rowdy (well, we were, bunch of us are sober now) string band. I don’t bow, but would like to learn.

The default answer is to get a teacher, but if you don't have time or motivation for that, I really like the courses on discoverdoublebass.com.
I did Beginner's Classical Bass and German Bow Technique and it really helped with learning how to bow.
We played a couple solid shows this past weekend. Back to back nights can be a bit tiring, and we did have more energy the first night. Overall was great, played new spots, got better and am now getting ready to open for Black Tusk tmrw night! Very excited and grateful.

Jo Quail is a one-woman army, actually, making extensive use of a looper and other effects (including 'percussion' from rhythmically hitting her instrument), turning her cello (almost) into a full-fledged heavy group.
I was thoroughly impressed and will certainly dive into Quail's discography.
Since cello is my favorite stringed instrument, this will be an interesting rabbit hole to explore.

cello is everything the guitar wants to be. Play a guitar solo on a cello and is sounds infinite times better.
Let me clarify, my favorite classical stringed instrument. Any better? The double bass doesn't catch the same melancholy as a cello does for me.
Sometimes I don't even need to open a thread to know it's going to be a disastrous waste of time. Case in point: "Why do people like heavy Metal when all it does is put me sleep?"

Question for Doom\Stoner players since we live in a down tuned world.
I recently picked up a Dunable R2. It has the typical 35" scale and a pair of Baphomet pickups that can be split. I am trying to find the right string balance for a BEAD tuning and am having trouble with the B string (surprise surprise.)
Using a set of regular 125 105 85 60 DR Hi Beams the EAD sound pretty good. Nice amount of clarity and meat. Maybe a little tight, but workable. The 125 B just isn't as clear as I would like it to be. The EAD have a clear tone to the articulation that the B doesn't have. I know the obvious answer should be to use a 130 or 135. Based on most tension graphs, a 135 would be the right way to go. I've always been a little concerned with thicker strings because while they add tension, which should help their clarity, the additional mass means they require more power to move, and won't necessarily sound sharper because there is that much more string.
There also aren't a lot of SS .135 round core strings on the market for me to try this with.
Thoughts on how I can find a B string for this bass that is clear and has a little grind on the attack?
