Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Question for Doom\Stoner players since we live in a down tuned world.
I recently picked up a Dunable R2. It has the typical 35" scale and a pair of Baphomet pickups that can be split. I am trying to find the right string balance for a BEAD tuning and am having trouble with the B string (surprise surprise.)
Using a set of regular 125 105 85 60 DR Hi Beams the EAD sound pretty good. Nice amount of clarity and meat. Maybe a little tight, but workable. The 125 B just isn't as clear as I would like it to be. The EAD have a clear tone to the articulation that the B doesn't have. I know the obvious answer should be to use a 130 or 135. Based on most tension graphs, a 135 would be the right way to go. I've always been a little concerned with thicker strings because while they add tension, which should help their clarity, the additional mass means they require more power to move, and won't necessarily sound sharper because there is that much more string.
There also aren't a lot of SS .135 round core strings on the market for me to try this with.

Thoughts on how I can find a B string for this bass that is clear and has a little grind on the attack?
I use the 5 string set on my 4 string 34.5" scale Gibbo. I find the tension perfecto

Dude thank you, I was literally thinking about this song a week ago and could not remember the name. Awesome version here too...

Gonna plug another heavy live show here because for some reason @br1qbat hasn't yet!

Jeez, thanks. I'm turning red now. Lol. Lotta fun, got to play with the fabulous Bog Wizard. It was 80 degrees in the bar and probably 90 on stage hence me dumping water on my head. Several times. Haha.

Got band shirts now. Of course they arrived after the gig:

Dude sweet! Did BW play any of their new stuff?

My band is about to have our first gig here in June so that's exciting. Not doom affiliated unfortunately :rollno: but I'm still having fun playing with these guys. I am jamming with my doom buddies today though so the itch doesn't go unscratched!

Doing covers for now so we can get booked then working on originals once we have 4 hours worth of covers done. Definitely a rock group but this band definitely likes it a little on the softer side lol.

We are gonna put this video up on our social medias tomorrow but I know y'all will appreciate this!

Bog Wizard played Reptilian Death Squad from their split. They are the nicest dudes in the universe. I was proud to have been the first to get them booked in Detroit. They're from Luddington 4 hours to the northwest of Detroit. Of course, another band we're buds with then swooped in and got them on another Detroit gig 2 weeks earlier. Lol.

Proper Geezer/Al right hand technique. Well done. Great singer too.

New Cave In is out today. Another great Cave In record and I adore the artwork a bunch.

And last night I found this Demeter 300watt tube power amp that I have hooked up to my zdora/traynor pre. It’s interesting comparing it to the lower wattage mesa, but will do me much better when I’m only using one cab.

And opening for Black Tusk was badass, dope dudes, a bunch of fun to watch and sounded absofahkinlutley badass.

Lastly, final mixes are done on the two songs. We’re gonna send them off to Tony Reed for mastering. They sound dope and we’re excited.

I think that’s all so far? It’s been massively rewarding lately. Ah! And I’m also going to try my fate at screaming backups.

Hmm, I don't think I've posted this here. I kind of thought I did, but my searches bring up nothing, and I kind of played it close to my chest when I got it "finished". It really is just all me. I was fooling around with a drum machine from my desktop (Hydrogen, I'm a terrible drummer), a guitar and a bass, a Yamaha reface CP (really convincing fake electric piano), and the Werkstatt-01 being fed with just four pulses from a sequencer (I'm also lazy). I thought of it as metal when I was coming up with it, but from the reaction I've got from the few people I've shared it with, it's really probably psychedelic/jazz/ambient preformed by a hesher. I may come up with a compelling reason to give it vocals someday, but it's kind of felt "finished" for the last couple of months. If you like it or hate it, something in between or more extreme, let me know.
