Ol' buddy (monster drummer) just texted me that he might be in my hood soon, drum kit in tow, for jimmy jamz. Haven't played with him in probably 20 years. This possibly coincides with wife and cornfarmer jr. going out of town for a couple of days.........ok, stars - get your asses aligning already 
Should be a good hang and jam. Especially if he can crash at your place. (No DUIs, thank you very much.)
Like a jagass, I double-booked myself for tomorrow night... I purchased tickets for Nothing and Boris and also have a show at a DIY space w/ Pound. So you know, if anyone wants two tickets to Nothing and Boris in Denver, like, hit me up, man.

Let's phrase it like this. Passive P basses through pedals into Terror Bass here.
I have a pair of OBC112, and they are loud, and deep, and dynamic, and great. And light, and easy to transport, which is important for me because I travel by public transport, mostly.
That said, I'm still allocating funds for a pair of OBC115 after having been able to play through a stack a while ago. Heavy, actually not that much more louder or "powerful" or "fuller" or whatever. But different enough for me, in a good way, that I'm considering the schlepp.
Played an gig on Saturday, with a (modest) crowd and a pa and drums and a set list and everything. Full on dad band stuff, but I did bring out the big rig for the first time since 2019. Pretty fun, but really stretched my ability to stay out past 9.

Well that didn't work out. My drummer buddy decided to go in the opposite direction about 1600 miles to visit another ol'buddy (monster guitar player) instead. WAMP WAMP
Went to the doctor the other day because I was sad. He suggested I go see the famous bassist cornfarmer. I replied, "But doc, I am cornfarmer!"
I never made it to Nothing/Boris on Wed, but it's alright. Pound were rad on Wed! Their drummer is among the most technical dudes I've seen. I was pretty psyched on our set. One of our band members is getting beat pretty hard by life right now and it really came out in his playing, and we all rose to match his energy. It's odd, Suicide Cages is more craft than art for me, exclusively functioning as a bassist (not a song writer). It's easy and fun! Our next show is Oct 29 so we working on a cover or two.

Saw a local shop had a Way Huge Fat Sandwich for a solid price, so I went to trade some stuff that hasn't sold in a while and grab it. They ALSO had a reissue EHX Green Russian for a steal, so that came home too. Gotta say, that Green Russian really kills! If any of you are looking for a solid Russian Muff on the cheap, you could do far worse. It's definitely smoother than my Pharaoh Supreme (which can be smoothed out be reducing the "hi" knob, but then it gets a little inarticulate) and really has some heft to it. I'm digging it for a different flavor of Muff. And with only 3 controls, it's super easy to dial in.
I also really love the Fat Sandwich, but it's on a guitar board, so I won't go in to much detail. Suffice it to say, that within 10 minutes of tweaking, I had it nearly dead on to TWO of my favorite guitar pedals, so it's definitely a keeper!

Was quite a crap week here, I contracted Covid the week before and spent most of my time lying around with aches and a fever. I've been clear for a couple of days now so we decided to go see that Irish Pub gig in the neighborhood. Not a full band, not really my kind of music, but, well, baby steps. Would have been weird to see a full show already so soon after.
Glad to hear you're also on the mend. Short version - my pancreas got angry at me. Doctors don't know why. I'm not supposed to drink anymore, not that I did much anyway. Feeling far better than I was, and I think I'm back to 100% as of today. Regardless, I go back to work Monday (tomorrow)!

Yikes, the pancreas. That got me into hospital last year, got lucky, no necrosis. Had I checked in 48h later it would have looked much different. Get well, you!
(Incidentially, was almost exactly a full year to the day, so you should be fine I think. I'm allowed beer again, still no harder alcohol mind. On the other hand, it made Covid so much more scary, because the doc was worried the infection could get hold of the pancreas with all the not-so-fun stuff associated.)
To be a bit more on-topic: Thanks to everybody here who was chattering about Om. I had heard of the project a while = years ago, but totally forgot about it even though I loved Sleep back in the day. Checked them out while recuperating, and boy. A bass player's Doom band, indeed.
