I use a Micro Thumpinator for this and haven't had problems since (partly because it has no off switch and oopses can't happen).

I use a Micro Thumpinator for this and haven't had problems since (partly because it has no off switch and oopses can't happen).
I got to open my birthday present early so I could play with it over the long weekend. Damn, I have a wonderful wife. This is very likely the nastiest, glitchy-est fuzz I've ever plugged into. The fuzz level it's set at in the pic is pretty much the last point before it starts to glitch out on decay. Only used it on bass so far, will have to try it out on guitar and organ.
Spent last night and this morning learning some more songs after a two week or so break due to life getting in the way. Also grabbed an MBD-2 (not sure if I mentioned that?) that I'm absolutely loving. Cleaned out my boards of all the random gunk/hair that accumulates on them, and "simplified" my board by removing the delay, but also added the DOD Bass Stereo Flanger. Down to only 4 dirt pedals too... I have a problem. Should be getting a Volt Thrower clone soon, as well as finding sweet deals on both a Pork & Pickle and second Swollen Pickle. I clearly need to start getting rid of some of older pedals!
Enjoyed learning some old Sodom classics - Remember The Fallen (this is definitely faster than the studio version!) and Napalm In The Morning. Nothing too difficult, but it gives me a reason to break out the D standard bass more (at least for Napalm) and adds a bit to my repertoire so my long-suffering wife doesn't have to hear the same songs over and over!

I have a MBD-2. It is a great pedal, one of the best dirt pedals I have every played but I just wish it could boost the mids more. That flanger is also great. I had one a long time ago and regret selling it. I have a Walrus Polychrome flanger that I really like a lot.

It's solidly one of those "keep it for when I need it" boxes, since it's not usually on my board, but I do love it. I boost the mids on my bass AND amp, so maybe that's why I have no problem with the MBD-2's mids?

Nice, love that fuzz. Honestly I need to figure out a way to fit one on my board. I didn't even try to even though I told myself that was possibly the best fuzz I've ever played or heard. When playing around with it I found I could get repeatable but slightly unpredictable glitches, decays, blooms, etc. Such a great full sound!
It's been a rough watch as a Canada supporter. People have been telling me "they've played well!" Yeah sure, but they've lost both matches and are out of contention...
I managed to snag one of the Magic ODBs that was released today, so something has to go, and I think it's going to be the MBD2. The mid character just doesn't work with the rest of my setup.
I'm bummed I haven't been able to watch more than bits and pieces of the world cup. Normally watch a good chunk of it.
I can't say I'm aware of how the points system works in the Cup, but I know that Germany isn't doing anywhere near as well as they usually do. If I understand correctly, they need to win their next match against Costa Rica to stay in? I imagine that would be fairly simple, but who knows?
The MBD-2 and ODB both pull "low gain" duty for me - in that order - on my respective #1 and #2 boards. I find them to be far more similar than different (at least how I set them), but if you're wanting more control over mids, the ODB may be the better option since it has a mid control. If possible, however, I'd wait until you can compare the two before getting rid of the MBD-2. They're both excellent, that's for sure.
I should be receiving a Volt Thrower clone soon, so I'm stoked on that one. I also found another Swollen Pickle for dirt cheap, so this one's going on the guitar board after I did a deep dive on guitar fuzz recently. Just like on bass - it can nearly replace my Pharaoh Supreme on guitar, and it WILL replace my Supercollider '71 on the second guitar board. I REALLY need to stop collecting pedals and start getting rid of some!
I also spent the night learning another Sodom song - this time City of God. Bit faster than the others, but still simple, and I noticed that he simplifies it further on the live version, so that makes me feel better about getting it polished up. Doesn't surprise me at all knowing Tom's attitude that he just does whatever works live. Anyway, I'm up to 23 songs learned now, most of which were learned in the past 3ish months. Feeling proud of myself. Tomorrow will hopefully be 24, as I'm planning on learning Hypocrisy's Slave To The Parasites. Should be a simple, slow paced death metal tune, and one that I can hopefully get down on a week night.
Maybe not the doomiest of amps, but I love the GK 800RB and I just ordered this cool looking preamp pedal from DiCosimo Audio on reverb that mimics the 800RB preamp section. Hoping I can get a good approximation of my amp sound at home for DI recording and it'll be good to have on hand if my 30 something year old 800RB dies (unlikely), or you know I go on a European tour and want to bring by amp sound along (hilariously unlikely).
The company seems to be a one man shop and they do an Acoustic 360 preamp too. I'll report back how the thing turns out.

The 800RB is ICONIC. It can do everything, so why not doom? And DiCosimo makes solid stuff. I'd be interested to hear your opinion of the (I assume) big version of the 800RB pedal. I have two of his older and now discontinued 800RB Power Amp Sim Pedal (aka the "GK Rails Pedal") and they are phenomenal for just a bit of solid state grind. I don't use them at the moment, but I can't justify getting rid of them either. Nothing else has been able to do what they do so well.
Oooh that sounds like a cool pedal too. I got the big version that mimics the whole preamp. Definitely a lot of love for the 800RB, I love that solid state grind. It's supposed to show up later this week, stoked to mess with it!
If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's the ENTIRE amp. The FX loop is integrated into the pedal in between the pre and power amp sections. This pedal is a "preamp" only in that it goes before your amp (potentially only your power amp). I have actually debated getting one just to use for a small "ampless" rig to go straight to a PA from my board. I could just plug my current board into the pedal in the same manner as it was my big amps and drastically reduce the gear I need. I've debated the same thing for the Plex as well, which digitally emulates numerous GK amps. Speaking of which, if you're not familiar with the Plex, you should also give that a look! And the Master Effects Super 800 is another take on the 800RB, but without the FX loop. Plenty of 800RB love these days. I just wish there were a cab sim on one of these things and I'd be set!
Yep, thats the one I picked up! I looked at the GK Plex too and that seems cool, the familiar layout of the DiCosimo and the fact that it's all about the 800RB sold me though. Hadn't heard of that Super 800, thats cool there's so many options! I use BiasFX GK amp sim at home right now and its... OK. Hoping the DiCosimo is gonna get me what I'm looking for in plug into the laptop tone.
I've never played the 800RB, but the DiCosimo looks good to me. I feel like the Plex has all sorts of other options that I'd never use, and already have covered on my board (compression, tuner, etc.) and it has mixed reviews with seemingly no product support. GK said (like 2 years ago?) that they would be adding cab sims to the Plex, but it never happened.
Anyway, when you get the pedal, I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts. Like I said, that would be awesome to use to go ampless somewhere if possible.
