Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Trying out 3 drummers this weekend. Waiting for one to show up to my warehouse right now and going over to Santa Cruz and the surrounding area to try out two more guys tomorrow afternoon. Been talking to a couple more guys locally as well, so hopefully I can get some traction with someone this time. I guess the timing was just better on this go around, because I got a lot of responses to the ad I posted again this week, some I had to rule out straight away because they were too distant.

NDD!

-Extra mojo'd slingerland 3 piece...24 kick, 16 floor, 15 rack and kick pedal
-Some 14x8 snare that according to my buddy at MGR is a sleeper with stand
-Hi hat and stand
-Straight stand for the old heavy Zildjian ride I got from my guitarist
-Replacement heads for the kick and rack tom

Got it all for trading a Windsor half stack with 8 jensens, 4 of them loaded in the cab. Plus $300 out of pocket. In all around $600. I'd say I got a deal I'm happy with.

Fully set up pics later tonight.

We definitely got something to work with...everything sounds good, some new heads will be beastly. Its loud, keeps up with my wall of peavey fine. The snare really is awesome, big sounding. Love these drums.

First official Galactic Hatchet practice. Good jamming, had some good moments, but well definitely need to warm to each others playing. Super pumped for this new project.

After a brainbusting week at work, it was nice to get a good gig on Friday. I'm usually averse to outdoor gigs, but the setup was pro and the temp & breeze felt great. There'd been a slight chance of rain all day so I packed the F800 in lieu of the AD200 and it did not disappoint! Set went well and got a good reaction. Now, coffee...

Rig.

In the spirit of the Trower vid that's worth re-watching, this one dropped our jaws last week at practice.

Okay so A) Edgar Winter is a great white wizard and B) that car horn is killing it.

So the Parachute is in Washington, and SHOULD be on island, so unless the USPS just decides not to deliver today (which they are wont to do here), I should have it soon. And if not...you will find me hyperventilating in a corner.

Update: OUT FOR DELIVERY, MOTHERFUNKERS. SCREEEEEE. Hopefully I can post some rough clips tonight.
