Looking for a dimarzio model J bridge pickup if you guys see one out there somewhere.

I love me some Dimarzio pickups. I have a cream P/J set still in the box, waiting to be installed in an '86 Ibanez Destroyer I intend to fix up and tune BEAD for a poorman's 5 string. Plus they don't make a Destroyer 5 string so this is as close as I'm going to get to one.

To be honest, you've listed some good reasons why you SHOULD keep playing the field. Don't try to hurry anything, take it easy, take it slow, the right one will come along when the time is right.

I just escaped a six year hell ride. Now it's just me and my four year old daughter. We have a much better time just the two of us and she still sees her crazy mom while I'm at work. I'm in no hurry to even date again but some sex would be pretty awesome...

Anyway, DeathsDJ I super dig the MXR Bass Octave, does gritty or clean octave, not as good tracking as the Octron but has better tone to me anyway. Gets loose from the G down on the E string. Can't go wrong with the MXR Bass Octave.
Oh and JMac said the Joyo Compressor is pretty sweet on bass, nice and subtle, not too squishy, and dirt cheap too boot.

Thanks for the info. I'm seriously considering buying one of those MXR Bass Octave pedals.

This is the one that would get my money. The darker green one is cool too but I like the lighter one.

Also guys rotosound swing 66 stainless steels. They make short scale sets, it's a .90 e but maybe that round steel string might still give the bright growly grind?

I use those. Rotosound Swing Bass 66 with a 90 E string. Very light set, had to get my basses set up for them but I really dig light strings and I only do standard tuning so they work for me.

Got a free acoustic guitar from my friend who bought a seagull and upgraded.

Also drums were lent to me but this kit looks rough as hell. They are from a friend who plays guitar and sings in a punk band called Godless Jihad.

Speaking of shirts, two things. While I like the full color, the light green and orange looks pimp.

I need to figure out how to control the feedback as I got curious and plugged it into the crate v50 with half reverb and full preamp nasty and it sounds great!

Work's mad poopie today. Got told off for not sending a bunch of documents to some guy even though it wasn't my responsibility to do it nor was I ever informed of such a task taking place. Apparently it was "Your job to find out what's happening anyway". Pretty sure my boss is losing her mind. Last week she called up one of the admin staff at midnight in a panic attack because she thinks something will happen to the company while she's on leave.

Whatevs. Tonight I'm gonna blow off some steam and bust out some jams with the wah and fuzz pedals. Might try my hand at setting up the Stingray too.

I find that in a mix fizziness tends to be masked somewhat. Just take Al Cisneros' stuff, for example. I don't know what it is, but especially in a dense mix, overdriven bass tends to sound mostly clean. Like when I played on my cousin's black metal record, I'm using a lot of overdrive, but you can't really tell with everything else going on.

Yeah, I feel a lot of remakes are pretty unnecessary, that one especially. Granted I have not seen it yet, but it just doesn't seem like it was needed. Same goes for Robocop, Total Recall, Point Break really that list can go on and on. None of them seem to do well either which is the most perplexing part of why they keep getting funded to be made.

Sometimes I think a remake can be good, if some limitation held the original back (I'm a bit muddled on medicine right now, having another one of my fevers, so I can't think of one off the top of my head), like if the special effects of the time weren't up to par, or there was executive meddling, or some other reason. Then a remake can be a good thing. But too often, there was nothing wrong with the original, and the remake is just a laughably poopy, modern version, that only serves to taint the original, with Nic Cage and ridiculous ranting about bees.

Cause we lazy 'Muricans can't be bothered to read a subtitle, God forbid.

Ugggghhhh, I shaging hate that. Is reading a goddamn subtitle really that hard? I heard the American version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was actually pretty good, but it still seemed just so unnecessary to me.

The MO lately has been people who don't read or ignore my location on craigslist ads. Then haggle and after We make a deal, they start trying to get me to come to them or meet in their extreme favor. I wait for local meets unless it's a big ticket cash grab.

Back when I was selling an old bass of mine, in 2009 or 2010, in Santa Cruz... "Cool, can you meet me at [place in San Jose]?" No, I cannot shaging meet you in San Jose. I don't have a car, and even if I did, if you looked at it and decided not to buy it at the last minute, it would be a total waste of time and gas on my part.

I've met someone halfway, before, but only because they were coming from Sacramento and were absolutely sure that the cab I was selling was what they wanted.

I don't drink soda really, but had to try a Moxie and it's awesome! Tastes like an antique store smells. Slightly Woody and sweet with strong notes of old dusty potpourri.

Also got a 12 pack of Pearl Light the 68 calorie awesome beer! Screw you snobs it tastes good, and I still get very buzzed. Time for the American team World Cup game.

I dunno, light beer is kinda like diet ice cream to me. Just vaguely disappointing.

So, the scoop control on the Swollen Pickle seems to be less scooped as I turn it clockwise, which seems really counterintuitive to me. Or at least that's how it sounds. Fully counter-clockwise, it sounds sorta like my Big Muff, but as I turn it clockwise, it gets more mean and ganky sounding. So that's weird.

Then there's the Filter control, which controls a bandpass filter, apparently. Still not quite sure how this works. All the way to the left seems to be low-pass, whereas all the way to the right is high-pass. Is dead center not filtering anything at all?

There's also a "crunch" control, which I'm not sure exactly what that does, because it also has a "sustain" control (which I set very close to minimum, as more than that is just too much on top of amp overdrive). I think the "crunch" control interacts with the "sustain" control in some way.

There are apparently internal trim pots for the "scoop" and "crunch" controls. Going to look into messing with them, too.

Anybody have experience with this pedal?

I have the original one so I can't help, but if you search some there are definitely some good threads including ones with settings. One guy in particular made a point of spelling out how he tweaked the internal trim knobs to get the pickle set up "right" for bass. I can search for that tomorrow.

As for the the light beers I choose to drink, I like the taste like I genuinely do. I don't like IPA's or Mickeys and Heineken. Also it's cheap lol if Guinness was $11 a 12 pack I'd be all over it instead.

Eh, even behind someone's back. I generally don't use bad names for people if I don't think what they're doing is bad. And screwing isn't bad. It's good. Archer's hilarious, but not a great lead to follow (in oh, so many ways, lol).

I guess with management it depends what kind of business it is. I would hate to have to put stupid poopie from higher up into practice and get no say in the matter, and then get blamed for stupid poopie being, well, stupid poopie, by my subordinates.

And yes, I was referring to the terrible travesty that is the remake of The Wicker Man. That poopie was terrible, especially compared to the original version, which was great. It's like the ultimate in remake failure.

It is true that some light beers are better than others. Some is even okay if it's a hot day and you're at a barbecue.

How does the Pickle-Pie differ?

At rehearsal last night, I kinda settled on a tone with the scoop knob almost entirely clockwise (which seems to have the most midrange gank), the filter knob at about one-o-clock, the sustain almost at minimum, and the "crunch" knob at about nine-o-clock.

Again, though, I'm not going for full-out fuzz, but just a bit more aggressiveness for one part of our new song.

I think really what I want at this point is a Big Muff knockoff with a switch to disengage the tone knob (so full mids), and the Pickle's "crunch" knob (I don't need the filter control, as I have it set basically just to minimize how much filtering I can hear).

With a Dunwich-style graphic. Of a big, hairy vulva. Because it's a fuzzbox.

It doesn't have nearly as many controls (no internal pots either as far as I know), so I'm guessing it would be a lot easier to dial in. Every demo I've heard, it's sounded fantastic.

For me it's usually the opposite. Not having enough controls often means not being able to get a sound I like.
