Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Yeah, all those "djent" guys tune pretty low. But that is an awkward tuning haha.
"Double Drop A? Sure... It's just A." That was pretty funny.
I'll have to check out that band though.

Check out their newest EP Perfect War Forever. Unless of course you like a lot of screamo vocals then check out the earlier stuff. Live they had incredible energy and they had programmed backing tracks which I normally hate but their performance made up for it. Plus they had all kinds of subsonic stuff going on in the backing tracks which was cool and really fit the style of music.

Invalid Link Removed: Ted, while I agree that, in time, our band will be most triumphant. The truth is, Wyld Stallyns will never be a super band until we have Eddie Van Halen on guitar.

Ted: Yes, Bill. But, I do not believe we will get Eddie Van Halen until we have a triumphant video.

Invalid Link Removed: Ted, it's pointless to have a triumphant video before we even have decent instruments.

Ted: Well, how can we have decent instruments when we don't really even know how to play?

Invalid Link Removed: That is why we NEED Eddie Van Halen!

Ted: And THAT is why we need a triumphant video.

Invalid Link Removed, Ted: EXCELLENT!

I love that stupid movie.

At practice last night I got to try out my new circle k .142 set in the full volume/band setting. SO MUCH BETTER than the d'addario .135 set I was using for A#. It seemed like I cut through the mix better had tighter low end. I think I'm converted... Circle k guys, how often do you change string?

I strung my EGC up with my current Circle K set in April of 2013 and I'm still rocking the same set. I still like the way they sound but I just ordered a new set that I'll likely put on in the next couple of months to get ready for our next recording session. So they lasted over a year just fine.

Same circle k's on my brown ric for over 2 years and I haven't cleaned them other then dry cloth. Still sound fine too :).

So question, black or chrome bridge?? Headstock will be black some time soon but I need a new bridge soon. Noticed the set screws are different lengths and it cuts my hand.

Speaking of super long scale, where is your super bass at?

the EGC? still being built, kevin went out and got me a rad piece of spalted burl maple that he was all excited about so hes gonna use that to build the bass (originally i selected a piece of spalted maple, but the burl is rad). i expect to have it sometime around xmas.

I'm a black HW fan but it all depends on how much you don't like the chrome. Saddle screws sticking out do suck, after last setup I need to grind sown several on the 86 RB650... Several times I've had to look down and be sure I havn't sliced my palm.

Speaking of bridge covers...sort of.

I was in the process of working out getting a second EGC. Since getting my bass all other basses have felt/sounded inferior. Had everything set and in order with Kevin, then out of nowhere I got an awesome deal on a Gibson G3. Too good to pass up, plus I've always dug the Ripper/Grabber body style (obviously the pickguard was the basis for the one that ended up on my EGC), and the 3 pickup G3 is just such a cool setup, I've always wanted one.

So I talked to Kevin, and he's making me a neck to put on the G3 instead of a whole new bass.

Got to send him the existing neck, which I'll be boxing up tonight.

I think it's gonna turn out awesome.
