There's a few of those here in Puerto Rico. People eat it up like crazy and I've never understood why.
I love that the preachers' arguments usually entail: "Well... god WANTED me to have these 6 cars, giant house and Rolexes. It's not my fault."
Makes me sick.
You are right that is definitely part of it and some of these people said as much. It is like why didn't we talk holy discount when we told you the rates and you agreed to them?
The other part is they seem to think that everyone in their church is going to buy a copy of the album and then they will have the money to pay us. They are probably shocked that most people don't want their crappy album for 15 bucks (even if these people are just as religious as they are). Quality is the other problem. They always want to record, mix, and master 20 songs in 10 days. They didn't seem to understand that the quality was going to suffer with that kind of schedule.
Trying to drop in a shared SoundCloud track and I keep getting that damn "this sound can't be played outside of soundcloud." Anyone able to troubleshoot that in the past? I've messed with it for a bit and can't get it to work.
Yep. Because you know, god is all about material possessions... Hypocrites, the lot of them.
Being in Utah and growing up Mormon you see a lot of this... Fvqin' giant temples and churches on every block. members donate 10% of all of their income. It's sick how rich these people are. Due to the high percentage of them, they also essentially control the votes. I could go on and bitch in great detail but to sum things up, it's a very frustrating community to live in.

Why do they have so many churches in town for one, why not all go to one mega church? And are temples special looking?
Is the rituals inside creepy?
Is it true they believe Mormon men get to be gods of their own planet with wives and minorities, primarily African Americans will be the servants?

As far as the smaller churches, I think it has to do with keeping people in a very small community that they don't venture outside of. It gives that smaller group a sense of security and familiarity with each other, and to put it bluntly, makes brainwashing easier.
The temples are massive looking. Just google "LDS temple" or "mormon temple". There are hundreds, but in the SLC valley alone there are upwards of 5 now.
I'm not really up to date on "the latest" temple rituals. I only went a couple of times, and it was just really clean, not so much creepy. I've done baptisms for their very long list of dead people. They basically just dunk you under in a hot tub sized pool and insert that other person's name instead.
When my grandparents were married in the temple things were a lot different and pretty bizarre. Some parts were based on free mason rituals. Another thing that's probably better googled.
It is taught that if you ascend to the highest heavenly kingdom that you will be "as god" and have your own planet, multiple wives, ect. Never heard any details about slaves, but I'm sure that's one of those things that would probably be talked about a lot less and a lot more quietly.
It's believed that black skin was caused by the sin of some biblical character (Can you tell how much I care about remembering this shvt?); and all of that character's seed was "cursed" with that "affliction".
It is also believed that native americans originated from Israelites building cocoon-like boats that had magical glowing stones to light them inside, and that they wound up in south america, also had some skin color "affliction", and killed each other off in some kind of holy war.
Which totally makes sense considering that Mayan depictions resemble nothings from the languages or cultures of the ancient middle east.
I'm still kind of upset that it took until my first year of high school to depart from and reject all of that completely. I had doubts since about the 8th grade, but when everyone around you believes that it's hard to be rational.
Wish I was better apt to answer your questions though, I try not to dwell on being anti-mormon, there just happen to be a lot here. I have the same problems with any religion that gains so much power over their followers and does absolutely nothing for them in return.

More like a touring musician, really. Which is pretty close to a hobo at times, but not quite the same. Either way, he was poor as shag, and from a low class family.
Megachurches are also usually full of gimmicky bullcrap. I'm not going to be a Christian either way, but if you're going to have a church, at least make it seem even somewhat sacred. Megachurches seem more like sporting events and scammy motivational speeches than anything spiritual. Burn 'em to the ground.

I hate that whole "oh, I'm rich because god smiles on me," ********. It's such Calvinist crap. Especially because the other end of it is saying that god wanted some babies to be born with HIV, that god wanted people to starve to death, that god wanted people to be raped and murdered, that god wanted people to die horrific deaths from cancer. I shaging hate those people.
Yeah. They have this assumption that because they've found THE LORD (ever notice how they sometimes capitalize that poopie for no goddamn reason?) that everyone else will cut them a deal. To be honest, I'd be more inclined to do the opposite. I hate people who try to use their faith like some sort of shaging bargaining chip.
I got an angry PM from a bass builder a while ago who I criticized on here for making a point of putting his faith on his website like some sort of shaging advertisement. I can't stand that poopie. Worship whatever shaging gods you like, but don't try to use your faith to get me to buy from you. It reeks of both entitlement and insincerity.
Beyond that, of course not many in their church are going to buy their crappy album for fifteen dollars. Modern "praise" music is mostly worthless garbage. I try not to insult whole genres of music often, and recognize that tastes are subjective, but it just sounds half-assed and crappy. It doesn't sound real. Just shaging cornball ********, like it's a parody of itself.
Lots of religions don't buy into the megachurch concept. San Francisco, at the time most of its churches were being built, was a heavily Catholic city. The biggest ones are large, but not megachurch huge. Also lots of people would likely be averse to tearing down historic buildings just because they don't fit everyone anymore and would prefer to build additional ones instead. There are some huge older churches, though. Most of them are nicer than American "megachurches," though. There is also some benefit to putting things within people's own communities, so that they can get there easily.
Yeah... that's part of my beef with Mormonism... the condescendingly ridiculous fictional history they've thought up for the various indigenous societies of the Americas.
I have a bass rat clone that has taken over. Liking to OD better than fuzz lately. BB is just collecting dust.
Besides I need to free up some cash to pay for a new bass.
