Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

A couple people here have bass VI dont they? Anyone have the Squier VM? Sitting here in the woods waitjng for deer has me thinking i need one for Galatic Hatchet.

Si me and @askrere got 'em. Hadn't heard about him destroying his, curious to read that tale.

My VI is solid overall. The bridge blows and is buzzy but the neck is good and I have the action nice and low. The buzz isn't too bad with a big muff on. I have yet to record anything with it but I have two tracks queued up for MDT with it.

askrere,
I've been out of the loop for a while. didn't you have a dually with troubles? how did you make out?

Waiting

Got sick on it. Cleaned it up, but put it together again. I was buying new parts for it, and still want to buy a few more so I wish it was together and working, but I have stuff to install that would require gutting it so was gonna be anyways.

Bronco is my main bass before that and just continues to be now. When I had it, it was #1 and I played fingerstyle, and used my nails.

Good to know. I've been gassing for one for a year now. Just haven't had the funds for a purchase that I truly may not use very often. They look like a sweet sonic tool though.

I would cut you for this bass...

Well id be buying the squier to test the squier waters really. To see if i want to drop bigger money for EGC to make me a 30" 6 string neck for my Flying V. Its too short for low tuned bass, but maybe its perfectly long for low tuned guitar

Do you guys run flats on yours?

I feel myself wanting to incorperate more guitar like stuff into GH.

Stock low E was meh but worked. I put la Bella deep talkin' flats on it. I wish chromes existed for it.

It's the nature of the tremolo and string posts makes it a bass for E down to D, maybe drop c if you thought flubber was a good movie.

The scale of 30" is fine for low tuning bass, now that I found bassstringsonline and that they sell low b strings in rounds, flats and tapes. Granted this required regular bass string post sizes, and a fixed bridge, never shall the bass vi touch them.

Squier is awesome btw look at what I own.

Squier bass vi 30" E-D tuning
Squier bronco 30" E-C
Squier jaguar 30" C-A
Squier P bass 34" E-C
Ibanez roadstar p bass 34" C-A

The bass vi was my most expensive personal bass to date. I also have a univox hi flyer bass 30", old geddy lee jazz 34" and a EB-0 30", but I'm gonna move them no doubt.

Squanch's vacation it seems. And I had Mexican food last night.

You mean Squanch's Sickation. Managed to have fun but the sinusitis and tonsillitis kept getting worse and worse. missed three days of work last week too. Florida was fun, and zip-lining was real fun. Dreading going back to work tomorrow. If you don't like your job you like it even less after vacation LOL. And still got migraines everyday in Florida, next vacation will be high desert might be healthier lol.

Ok that makes sense it seemed like you were gone longer than a week. Glad it was fun, did mica enjoy it too or was this a vacation away from the kid lol?

I want to drop everything and run to the desert for a visit very bad.

No Micah stayed home with the grandparents, we asked but he preferred spoil by grandparents time. His grandfather is a gamer so he gets spoiled by Memaw and then plays minecraft with Papaw whenever not at school LOL. How anyone likes that game is beyond me, ******** lame graphics and it's like shaky camera Blair Witch the whole time. I almost threw up when Micah was trying to show me what he built, the more he zipped around the greener I got, rant rant rant LOL.
I have never been to the desert and so want to experience it. I am more interested in high desert. I would love to see Eastern Oregon in the rain shadow areas. Looks like gorgeous country and not bone dry. Like to bum around that area next vacation. I think humidity is my worse migraine trigger so it would be worth checking out the area just for health reasons.

This is why I can never go on vacation.

I haven't been anywhere in like a year, though technically I'm new to my area of Texas so I can see a lot of new daily if desired.

I want to go on a trip to Tucson and hike around big bend and Tucson, go see the ft Davis Mac Donald observatory. I went to Tucson last Christmas, but it's been 5 years since the observatory. It was life altering, so clear the sky at night you could see everything with the naked eye. I'd totally risk a space susplosion to go to space.
