My h4 flashes when it clips as a warning. Once I got it set for our room I did not have to mess with it again, until the drummer cranked his full stack Ampeg kick monitor (don't ask) and took it to a whole new level of pain. When it clips, the recording is ruined.
The h4 gives you separate gain on all four channels, and auto level function which I've never used, but Ken Rockwell likes it.
Well like I said, the recorder isn't actually clipping. I keep the gain levels correct, but I think the volume is just too much. I do place it about 5 feet from my cab when we practice at full volume... I should probably try moving it.
Isn't it? My blue collar to the bone father in law usually refuses to drink any bottle of whiskey over $15 and I've even got him on board! Great price, can be used for Manhattans, super smooth by itself, and if you wanna get hammered it is great!
I bought it on a whim one year on my way to a Billows house show in Baltimore. For some reason we got there like 7 hours before we had to gig because people were partying pretty hard. I started drinking from the bottle. About half way through my guitarist and singer had to start drinking so I wouldn't drink the whole bottle, which resulted in all of us being borderline black out drunk before playing in someone's living room. Drunkest I have ever played haha.
Single Barrel Vintage, as in Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage. Hands down my favorite bourbon. Aged around 10 years, bottle has the hand written dates that batch was barreled and bottled, under $30 and smooooooth as all get out.
That's good stuff, been years since I've had any. Though we usually have a liter of Evan Black in the house for emergencies/special occasions.
Whew! Heading to Costa Rica for work in the morning... Forgot to look at what kind of power they deliver and plug types! Lucky for me it's the same as the states! I didn't pick up an adapter kit. Happy Turkey Day gang!
Well, picked up that DOD 250 today. It's awesome! Might replace my B3K in that spot. It does high gain amazingly well, and I'm working on low gain. Right now, it's just before my Blower Box (that Box seems to just enhance anything in front of it!). I'm thinking I might set it for just barely breaking up, and then crank the BB for serious dirt. I'm amazed I've not heard more people using the 250, it's really good! Of course, it seems to lose a slight bit of low end, especially with rounds (noticed that in the store while demoing it). On my flats however, it's much less pronounced, and the BB can add in plenty of bass, so no worries!
So my BB doesn't have the tonal bypass mod but I want to do it. With that switch you can eliminate all of the mid scoop right?
Vega uses an old zoom not sure which one, we dont get clipping but it cerrainly is over burdened with volume. We have it on the most minimum gain and put it as far away as possible. Good enough for practice demos for our own use.
I thought it was determined there WAS no mid scoop, unless you have bass and treble controls vastly far apart, that is. Didn't we? Or did I imagine that?
There are two floating in the band and the older one takes a little less fiddling to sound acceptable for demo documentation. I'm thankful for the recordings that come from them so we don't loose track of our progression.
Fellas, I use to be a fairly active member of this board but life happens. I have a question and I don't feel like hearing the usual "it's 2014, you don't need all that gear." If any thread on TB can empathize, it will be y'all.
I was in an accident and may have totaled my truck this weekend (no injuries). That said, I need a new vehicle and I'd like one that my band can fit in. We are a three piece with
-2 ampeg 810's
-sunn 300t
-2 4x12's
-Mesa dual red
-2 pedalboards
-fairly large drum kit
I'm trying to avoid a full sized van. Does anyone have experience with a Chevy Astro van or gmc safari (I'm on a budget and like the AWD option). Maybe a pickup with a cap?
