Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Watching Knighfs of Badassdom on Netdlix now. As the guy's girlfriend is breaking up with him she says one of the reasons is he lives in a castle and sits around there playing black metal and his coworker says no it is doom metal all offended. Then he says well it started out as black metal, then we went through a sludge phase, and yeah now we are Doom metal lol.

[QUOTI ="askrere, post: 16694529, member: 217636"]I liked Tucson a lot, I've been to both states several times, though never lived in either.

Both have excellent food.[/QUOTE]
Yeah i remembered you texting me a panoramic photo of Tuscon. It seems like everyone digs Tuscon. I guess I should check that out. I guess I will torture myself by reading Abbey novels till I can afford a trip out there.

Northern Arizona is nice to visit, Sedona, flagstaff, prescott area has tons of natural areas and cliff dwellings, mountains, high desert.

I like New Mexico better, though. I lived in ABQ for a few years and absolutely loved it. I feel like the people are friendlier there and there's a lot less batpoopie right wing legislation going on. It's a beautiful state - they don't call it the land of enchantment for nothing . Shoot me a pm if you want some ideas of places to visit in either state. I love the south west.

Did your guitarist take out a loan and buy the place or is he renting the venue area? Curious how the venue came to be.
The space we rent is subleased. The dude we rent from, builds out old warehouse buildings, makes rooms, and rents. We got him before he finished building out. He took the idea that the 4 wanted, and built it in the space that he could assess appropriate rent on. In other words, lucky!

Funny you all mentioned that train as just last Friday I was looking up where to go on my next vacation and saw that train listed as a nice day trip. I want to bum around the Southwest and was trying to figure which out of Arizona or New Mexico is a nicer state to visit/live in.

AZ life definitely has its high points. I will forever despise the summer heat and the auto-centric sprawl of the Phoenix area but Tempe is very bike-able and I can go see satisfyingly loud and good bands within 2 miles of my home most any weekend. Total awe-inspiring wilderness solitude of acceptable climate is never more than 2 hours away. I'd be more than happy to share my favorite spots, PM me if you like. Tucson is nice too, the tall mountains are closer, right at the edge of town. And yes, if batsh!t crazy right wing legislation is your thing, we have some of the finest in the western world. I haven't spent much time in NM, but I'd like to.

Great GH practice tonight. Belted out lyrics trying to find melodies without a PA, to save me from myself. Im going for clean almost pop like for vocals. Should be interesting

Also wrote a killer new riff and figured out a part that elluded me in another song weve been working on.

Cant wait to get my bass VI, that will be next level shvt right there.

Also anyone know where i can get a crossover or i guess just a low pass filter i can easily add to a cab, so it would be after my amp. I want to put one of my Peavey Lo Rider 18s in my folded18 instead of an old BW.

Like the lo rider 18 is 8 ihms and has a frequnecy range of 25hz-1khz, could i use this?

It is a little shy on its power handling.

Some kind of rackmount dsp processor for pa speakers might be your best bet. I'll take a look when i get to work and post some links.

Thanks for the tips gents and I will hit you up with PM's when I get closer to planning the trip. I hear NM is greener and that would be an easier way to convince the ol lady to visit and maybe move. Seems my migraines triggers are big swings in air pressure and humidity so thinking the lowlands would be the best for me but I guess that means hot, hot, hot but oh well if I feel better. Plus I have chronic sinusitis an d sinus infections so drying out would be a pleasure. So far it looks like the nicest areas with the elevation still have big sweeps in air pressure but I will try and check out lowlands and highlands on my eventual trip. I really wanted to shop for jobs in that area when I finished college but VA popped up and I figured it wasn't too far from PA to visit kin but I think it is time to get my arse west of the 100th meridian.

I would think that it would help....

Yeah like Excedrin Migraine. It's weird, occasionally the caffeine (vasoconstrictor) works pretty good but I need to take four Excedrin Migraine to shake it. But the best is Imitrex, which is a vasodilator which always works but insurance only gives out 9 a month. I am only averaging 2 to 6 days a month without a migraine, so yeah I need more than 9 Imitrex a month.
