It allows for a much tighter sounding fuzz. I am digging it thoroughly. Currently waiting on a reverse polarity cable for my PP2+ before it actually makes it to the board.

Just sold my bass blower. I found the distortion to be a little to sizzley for my taste. I will certainly miss the massive bass boost and volume control that the pedal offered, but the speaker cranker and fire ant can do some magical things together and the Cthulhu is just raunchy. Still trying to figure out a preamp/ DI box for the board... debating between VMTD, tone hammer and recently had thoughts of partitioning the coin until a used Meatsmoke pedal pops up.

I am also debating the future for me and amps. I am pretty unenthusiastic about this 4 pro I have. There are certainly a lot of factors( stage setup, cabs, etc) but I just cannot seem to get this thing loud enough for what I need. Heresy I know. But at 4 ohms, 490watts is pretty unimpressive. If my guitar player would open his mind to science and let me put my cabs next to each other the volume issue would probably not exist as I would have 1kW behind me. As it stands he is dead set on my two cabs being split by the drummer and basically shuts down any justification I present as to why thats a bad idea. Its his project though and if thats the sound he wants, that is fine. But my limiter light flickers almost the entire set and I still have trouble really hearing/feeling the low frequencies(which are basically rolled off after 60hz, with low mids boosted). Maybe mono bridged into the 810 and another amp for my 215 is the solution. Maybe the Sunn into the 215 for dirt and the Eden into an 810 for clean and lows. Or maybe a pre/power amp set up to guarantee ample headroom. Lots of thinking and conderations to make. I am not in a rush as the 4 pro is getting the job done for now.



My girlfriend got me that same record player with tweed covering for christmas. They are ok for a cheap table. Suits my needs at least.


Nice board, what model is that Pedal Train you have? I need to find some of those little pedal cables with the flush jack like between the Smoothie and the tuner. Speaker Cranker for the win, love that thing. I do need a record player with USB so maybe I will go hipster too LOL, I can't grow a tame, thin beard or fit in skinny jeans though, and if I try and rock a cardigan it will look like skin on bologna, but I did buy a Café Americana at B&N while perusing that turntable.

Picked a quartet of EL34s for the Altec power amp, this weekend is the last one before school starts so I'm going try to use the free time to see if I can get it up and running.

Still need a few oddball rectifier tubes, but I found a source for those and they should be here tomorrow. Cap swap may be in order but the goal for this weekend is just to get tubes in it and see if it works. If everything works as is I'll wait on the cap job.

The eventual plan is to build a guitar amp-style wooden headshell for it, with a 1RU space below so I can slap a rackmount preamp in there. Since the power amp is only 80W, this will probably be a guitar rig, so I'm looking at maybe a Peavey Rockmaster or TG/TB Raxx preamp. Until then I have a ART Tube MP to serve as a preamp.

Fun stuff!

Quick review of the Carvin B2000:

1300W@4ohms, 2050@2ohms. Fender Blacktop P -> Akai Headrush 2 -> Fuzzrocious Demon -> Carvin B2000 -> GB Dually

Got it this weekend and was able to fudge around with it and even got to use it during last nights practice. I don't have the best ear; I usually am happy with an amp if it's loud enough and not brittle. That being said, this thing gets STUPID loud and sounds like it has balls the size of an elephant. Right now I'm just cab'd into my dually (3015) and was able to make it knock poopie off walls that I wasn't able to get with the TB1000. And the tone is pretty fantastic. Low end feels powerful rather than being washed out. Very stoked.

Knobs/controls are plenty simple. I put everything at noon and it sounded badass just like that. I was a hair disappointed that the drive function didn't do a whole lot, but it sounded good as is, so I said, "fvck it for now!" For $600 it's a pretty amazing deal.

Will be ordering a 2nd Dually (Faital) at the end of the month to run beast mode.

I've been wanting to pick up one of the high powered bass amps from Carvin for a while, since I have so much Carvin gear, but really have no need or room in my budget for it lately. The worst thing I've read about them is that they're too clean, which isn't a negative to me since I use pedals for all my dirt.

too clean...yea, I think that would describe it pretty well. The drive function not really creating any dirt. S'ok though! I have mucho OD from pedals. Was not an issue for me, but was a but surprised anyway.

I have a B1500, the lead sled precursor to the B2000. Same front end for the most part, 3u, and heavier. That said it is a fantastic amp. EQ points are perfect, and easy to dial in. The drive doesnt add grit, that is a sure thing. Just adds some harmonic warmth. Not really a gain knob, I usually have mine set pretty high. Heavy hitting amp, that is for sure.
