There is no difference in the DI circuit between the large box and current models. the only difference is that the big box used a full sized XLR jack and the current one uses a 1/4" TRS. the big box used a small daughterboard to hold the DI circuitry while the current version has everything on the main circuit board.
Got to hook up the Super 300 today. It’s lovely. Built like a tank and I like the wall paper ish design. All the knobs and switches feel sturdy.
It has more gain on tap than I’ll ever need. I’m deciding whether I like the character of the breakup at higher settings. As others have mentioned, the way the ultra bright switch, bright foot switch, and treble control interact makes for a wide range in subtle eq changes and feel. Finger style with the bright footswitch on and treble down is fantastic.
When I had the sv pre I didn’t feel at the time that it justified sitting around when the B3n svt model got most of the way there. The 300 is a keeper though. They obviously share the same DNA but they’re different. The B3n is more open. It has a looser bottom and more sparkly top. In my main board I actually like it more for the context I’m using it in.
Playing along with recordings through headphones though, the 300 smokes the B3n when it comes to sliding into a mix. Can't wait to play it through an amp with a band

This thing is awesome, just what I've been looking for. Going to be great with in ears, and really sounds good with the omnicabsim.
Well, considering I'm new to the pedal gig and in ears ( first band after a long hiatus) I'll chalk that one up to a learning lesson. Don't trip on your cord with that nose so high in the air.. nah, you're probably wireless.
Tonight I ran a Dunwich Olde Dirty Bastard into the Super 300 and then through my Smoothie (on suave) - through a Mesa TT800 on the Boogie channel, with the deep switch on, through a Subway 115… sounded glorious, never turned it off!

Hmmm ... Interested in a trade? I need to see how much smaller the new box is first tho ..
I'd be willing to do a trade if it works for you, but I think the newer version is the same length and width, but just shorter in height. Not sure if it's worth it for you.

the big box is a hammond 1590U - approx 4.7 x 4.7 x 2.3”
the current version is approx 4.7” x 3.7” x 1.7”
I haven't owned any Ampeg or Ampeg emulation outside of plug-ins for a very long time (I think since I sold my last SVT some 15ish years ago, followed by a near endless stream of Mesa tube and hybrid heads), but lately have found myself drawn to some of those tones again. I picked up @BunchyMutt 's 300 from the classifieds and just rocked it into my Mesa Walkabout for an hour or so and gotta say- great job, @Sensei Tim ! Definitely brings back fond memories of pushing my old SVT (particularly the Gain on the CL), and will be a great addition to my tone pallete when I start playing with people again (hopefully very soon)
Aw, JUST got mine, and engaging the Bright switch turns the Bypass light off, Bright light On, but pedal overall off, any quick fixes I can do from home? I'm soldering-handy! Also, with the Low switch Down I can't get a clean tone at any Gain setting

Aw, JUST got mine, and engaging the Bright switch turns the Bypass light off, Bright light On, but pedal overall off, any quick fixes I can do from home? I'm soldering-handy! Also, with the Low switch Down I can't get a clean tone at any Gain setting

All right, Sensei Tim helped me figure it out! The S300 doesn't get along with One-Spot power supplies. I don't love them either, but it's my on-the-go PSU and for some reason it disrupts the relay switching when trying to engage the Bright switch. Anyone else using a One-Spot and having any issues? Thanks, everyone!

No, but I can't get any of my (even brand new) Cioks cables to reliably sit in my S300's socket. I wonder if there is a slight variation in the socket Tim's using.
I've experienced that with USA-made versus some European-made stuff, there's 2.1mm power jacks and 2.5mm power jacks or something like that, I think. Not saying that's the deal with the S300, but I ordered some Fuzz Dog's Pedal Kits a while back and they came with the narrow jack, so the larger Boss style didn't insert correctly.

I’m using new Cioks cables (via an Eventide PowerMax made by Cioks) and have no issues with my Super 300. It may just be an out of tolerance socket on your pedal (it happens).
I'm using the OneSpot and I'm not having any issues at all. Works great. Lmk if you need me to check anything for you.
