Great photo, Geo! I think it would maximize the aesthetic of the headstock with the curved logo.
Ohhh I like that string path idea...didn't even think about it. Sometimes you gotta visualize the final product with the strings to get a full understanding of where you want to go with the design. Thanks Ivan - I've decided for straight for a couple of reasons. Since the hs is all gilded now, light playing on it will hint at the scallops definition - more subtle like. Also, I think aligning the script with the string path is more dynamic visually - more streamline. Starting to get excited about finalizing it.(again!)
I was a graphic designer for ten years, the straight is definitely the way to go. Logo is a classic, good work.
Hey Jio
Glad to hear - sounds like the decals are working out!
Thanks so much - just got the CD and it is in heavy rotation in the car. Enjoying your playing very much. Haven't made it to the end yet - but I love the spacy SF jammy instrumental madness in the first couple of songs - and really enjoying the female vocalist stuff - i have to chuckle every time I hear "I get paid for this". Brilliant.
Haven't really spent time with the credits yet - did you write the material in addition to your bass parts? Also, I got the vibe that some of the drums/percussion while very interesting might have been programmed. Did you do the programming? Kudos to who did - or were they played in the studio? Will check in when I get all the way through it.
I spoke to my producer friend from SF today, and although he hasn't yet heard "Jane Bond" he thinks he read something about them in one of the local entertainment papers. He is intrigued and chuckling with me at the inventiveness of the concept. He has practically been living in LA for the past months working on several projects - but will be back in SF for an extended stay soon.
Will keep you posted.
Don't have my decals back yet, hoping the quality is there. I will kick them in the butt tomorrow - I am anxious to see how they turned out.
I like Jane Bond.., but it's Bond Girl. (and her name is Cherie!)Yes, there are programmed drums on a number of the cuts and no I wasn't responsible. The eternal search for a dependable and solid drummer made it mandatory so we made the best of it. The first song is my mine and a couple other share credit w/KB. "Canadian Spies" vocalist Catherine Conlin does improv/free-form and that was a one-take example. I'm glad you're enjoying it!

I didn't see it mentioned here but have you considered the Supernova logo inside the bevel curved following the bottom edge of the headstock?
That would eliminate the tuners or strings from obscuring it.
Wow, so I drop off the forums for a few months while making other things, come back to get caught up on this thread.
It was an emotional journey, seeing the completed thing, than it being rapidly changed and cut up again.
Good stuff.
Thanks for following! I started this project at the end of February and it's almost December when it will be done, again. (Supernova ..."a year in the making") I saw that you're held up on the Glitchenbacker for the time being - it's such an unusual spin on bass design. Hope it happens eventually for you and will keep checking in on your progress.
Yeah, I have a feeling that project is going to be the thorn in my side. The thing I want to make, but is gonna take some doing.
Plus, I already have 3 lovely basses now, I would have to get rid of something to make the new one.
Black (as mapleglow knows), is always beautiful.., (until they invent something darker) so a consideration. My initial concept I still may explore is (silver) mirror, to keep the metal/spacecraft vibe going. So far, the MOTO pg I have bridges a bit to the neck (wood) and has a bit of light catching (pearl) variation - so works.
It's wild how different the same finish looks depending on light. That's why stage lights especially create magic w/gilded finishes.

Already have the pu's (black) that were originally installed in Mk I and will re-install them. Considering white for the SuperB 5'r.
I should have the Supernova Mk II back from Marty on Fri or Sat, sans decal. Something about the water-bourn finishing process being not compatible with the DIY decal. As much as Warwick boasts their environmentally friendly finishing, I'm sure they have nothing on finishers here in CA. I'll resolve that detail one way or the other. Pics will follow once it's here.
Hey JIO
As you may have seen from my Transformer thread, I had trouble with the inkjet thing because my printing shop could not get the decal sheets to feed through their high end printer. In the end I followed the advice of Mapleglo and bought the Laser Printer ones. I printed them myself on my HP Color Laser printer, saving them first in an ultra high res (1200 dpi) TIFF file in Illustrator. I then flattened the transparency and hit print and they look really nice. The big rub is - you have to print before the printer heats up. Get everything ready and turn the printer on - and as soon as it says "READY" hit print. Once the printer is up to temp they will smear and create a mess in the printer.
The laser ones do not need to be sprayed or coated but just left to dry for around 30 minutes. The jury is still out on mine, but Keith had me duplicate a decal for another project for him which apparently worked fine. I am not a guy who knows much about finishes - poly vs. nitro vs. varnish, vs. tung oil, vs. water or oil based etc - but I will let you know how mine works out with Pat.
Hey, seeing a big press blurb on NBC Today Show this morning for the new Bond movie - they picked the new Bond Girl Lea Seydoux - have the cast and are starting in soon. Good timing!
