Tatoos on Women?

Some I like ,some I hate ,some make me gag...

Those above the butt tattoos are the dumbest sh#t I've ever seen .

Tattooed lady parts make me gag.

Tattooed breasts can be nasty

original tattoos done in tasteful manner can be attractive ...

Its like art ....is it a kindergarten drawing ....is it an acid trip gone bad...or is it a masterpiece ....

But!

I have proof ....i have some tats that are pushing 27 years old ,one looks good ,one is an ink bloob now. The one that looks good is a black panther in all black that left skin showing thru to add dimension etc...

The other was an eagle that looks more like roadkill pigeon now.

To much detail may not look good later ....

That butterfly is gonna look like a pterodactyl later on....

I see what you did there.

9 out of 10 times the tattoo looks just like a hundred other tattoos I've seen and I automatically think the woman is unoriginal and not too thoughtful which makes her less attractive.

On the flip side, I've been told some pretty far out stories about unique tattoos. Not far out as in, "what a strange and wonderful story!" but far out as in, "I can't believe someone wanted to commemorate that with a tattoo" which once again makes me think of the woman as less intelligent than I'd like and therefore unattractive.

My own hangup with tattoos is that they attempt to make a permanent personal statement, and most of the statements you can make by leaving a cartoon on your arm for the rest of your life aren't ones I particularly respect. There have certainly been some exceptions over the years, usually when someone gets really good work done solely for the aesthetic of it rather than some kind of symbolism.

This is just another example of judging a woman on looks alone. It's so sad. I'm female, and middle-aged and I have a couple of tattoos. I didn't do it for someone else's approval, I did it because they meant something to me. It's artwork, plain and simple.

I have never said anything about the character of women with tattoos. I just don't find them attractive.

Yeah? How about how women must feel on the flipside with a million and one unoriginal douchebags with Harley Davidson and skull tattoos all over their arms vying to get into their pants? Oh, that's nothing to do with originality, they are in it for a "lifestyle".

Come on guys, really. Is NO ONE going to even acknowledge EagleMoon's post? She's a lady, and a fellow bassist here. She has tats she got that mean something to her that she got on her own terms. How's about one of you, right now, call her undesirable or trashy to her "face"? She's right here...do it already. No balls? Way to alienate a friend in here.

Sorry to sound so harshly about this, but some of these responses are pretty cottdamn surprising considering the sources...but to each their own.

Yeah. And how about the unoriginal douchebags? They look like unoriginal douchebags to me and I tend to think of such people as less thoughtful. There's no double standard implied in my post.

The thing about a "tat" on your own terms is that it's graphic art. It's inherently a communicative object designed to convey meaning to other human beings who observe it. It's fine to have one for your own sake, just like it's fine to hide a painting for your own enjoyment up in an attic or to only play bass alone in your bedroom, but don't get grumpy when people do see them and have an opinion on them. The medium is one that asks observers to weigh in on the art just as an audience weighs in on a movie or a concert performance.

Tats are kind of like skin color to me. I might notice, but I don't form any opinions until you give me a reason to.

It's hard to imagine a musician with harsh views on such things. Surely during your careers holding a bass you have met dozens of smart, talented, and ATTRACTIVE people with tats. Oh well. Our differences bring us together I guess.

They look bad on some women, and amazingly hot on others.

I know some women who have a complete sleeve tattoo and it's the hottest thing on them. I couldn't picture them without it. I also know some women with no tattoos who look perfect, and I'd flip my lid if they even entertained the idea of getting a tattoo.

I am pretty sure that lots if young women don't think too much about how their tattoos will look as they age. Those tramp stamps and titty tats may no look so hot at 40 or 50.

As if these women would look hot at 40 or 50 without the tattoos?

I think the "Those tattoos will look bad after you get old" argument is really weak. First of all, do you think you'll look good being old with no tattoos? The answer is no. Secondly, who gives a crap what you look like when you're old? You're old, end of story. Nobody looks good, and you or I or any hot chick will be no exception.

Edit: just to clarify, I'm not trying to be argumentative, just giving MHO. The tone of this post comes across that way though.
